Talk:Tracery

Rarity applies specifically to Traceries. Shouldn't we be using this rather than "quality"? Similar to my suggestion on the new Legendary Items talk page this term has been coined by SSG in the article Your New Legendary Items Explained! as applying to a specific "quality" of traceries. I understand that the wiki generally has used "quality" where Uncommon, Rare etc apply to items, but for whatever reason they have chosen to use the term "rarity" regarding traceries possibly because the article immediately sets out different use of colour coding to show the another "quality" of the heraldic traceries - their "benefit".

So the article states "The primary bonuses of a Tracery increase with its rarity, while the secondary stat bonuses increase with its level. Additionally, rarer Traceries of the same type offer higher benefits than their more common counterparts. You can see the rarity of a Tracery by looking at the color of its icon: ... Uncommon: Yellow etc ..." as opposed to benefits "Word of Power Traceries have their own coloration indicating the kind of benefit they provide: ... Red: Offense etc"(See the linked article for more.) If we use "quality" and the devs use "rarity" wiki readers may become confused about whether we are referring to the same thing as these new pages are developed further as the LI revamp continues through the release of Gundabad. --Fatefoot (talk) 15:23, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

As I understand it, the spirit of the wiki is in staying true to the game, and keeping with the same terminology, phrasing etc. wherever possible. So I would agree that we should follow suit, and thus using "Rarity" for Traceries gets my vote — for the aforementioned reason and also to make it easier for all the players to learn and understand this new system. :)

Barter item for level 45-95 traceries is "Fragmented Khazad-dûm Tracery" not "Shattered..." No item yet exists for this - sorry, but it's above my skillset so help please - I'm studying the formatting so hopefully I can do it next time. (Info was obtained in game live today, not preview). Thanks. --Fatefoot (talk) 22:55, 17 October 2021 (UTC)

This is another example of SSG's inconsistency, All of the traceries are "Fragmented..." but the barterer shows Shattered. Even on live. I think they have acknowledge that, but not sure which name they choose.--Drono (talk) 07:03, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation. I read later that this was a bug widely reported. Seems SSG rushed the release of the whole as-yet-unfinished LI revamp. It seems there will be a lot of changes when they tidy up which probably won't finish even when Gundabad is released. This page is a VERY clear and full explanation of traceries!--Fatefoot (talk) 17:30, 18 October 2021 (UTC)

Regarding the section Word of Craft Traceries and the text "Some Word of Craft Traceries (specifically the "Ascendent" varieties) have set bonuses that apply when you equip multiples of the same Tracery. For example, equipping two "Ascendent Flame" Traceries will grant a Fire-type Damage buff" -- is this observed as such in-game? The tooltip in the game says "2 Different Set Items Equipped: +15% Fire-type Damage", where I am noting the word "different". Or is this a matter of a misleading tooltip text? Yes, it is observed in game. I equipped identical Ascendents on weapon and class item and the set bonus shows up. So the tooltip must be wrong. --Fatefoot (talk) 21:09, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
