Walkthrough & Notes

This quest can appear during the defense of the southern gate-wall (Stage II) of the Epic Battle: Hammer of the Underworld, fellowship version only. Alternatively, the fellowship may receive Epic Foe: Mâsorgh, Cleaver of Heads or A Brutal Reversal. Upon bestowal of this side-quest, a door will activate in the lower courtyard [58.7N, 17.2W], allowing the fellowship to enter a cistern underneath the city. Inside are many goblins, powder casks, and a Morgul Captain. The fellowship has a time limit to defeat the Morgul Captain, else the quest will end and award the currently-earned amount of merit. Goblin Sappers, once aggroed, will run to ignite a giant powder cask before engaging the fellowship. This giant powder cask has A LOT of work units to disarm and requires two or more players to cooperate on disarming it before it explodes. Otherwise, the fellowship should work together to defeat the other enemies and disarm the small, medium, and large powder casks scattered throughout the area. Note that there are two Goblin Sappers attached to the Morgul Captain. If these sappers are not attacked, they will not go to light their respective giant casks; thus, one designated player can run up, aggro, and kite the Captain and his sappers until all the casks are disarmed.
