Walkthrough & Notes

This quest is available to players who have purchased the Riders of Rohan legendary expansion. You play as a level 75 War-steed which has special skills, see below This is a timed quest: you have 30 minutes to complete this session. You start at the Kingsfell-road, at the bridge between Annúndir and Kingsfell. [10.1S, 48.1W] Ride to Esteldín Crafters' Courtyard and talk to a Ranger's horse next to the craft-hall. Ride to the southern Rhunenlad and click the Horse Traps to destroy them. For each destroyed trap a Ongbúrz Horse-trapper will appear. A "Back Kick" and one or two "Rearing Stomps" will defeat the orcs. Ride back to a Ranger's horse in Esteldin and talk to it to complete the session. When the session ends, (successfully or not) you are returned to the Hengstacer Farm, next to the "Combe horse". Finished. If defeated or time expires, you will return to Hengstacer Farm. After extensive testing, these experimental efforts were determined to not be practical for general use and therefore were never made available in Mounted Combat in the final release of Riders of Rohan, but continue to be available in the Session Plays. Quest Text

Bestowal dialogue Background The sounds and smell of war would scare away most horses, but you are drawn to it like a moth to a flame. You seek an audience with a horse that is accustomed to conflict in hope that it may shed some light on your purpose.... Objective 1 Find a Ranger's horse in Esteldín You are drawn to Esteldín by a notion of some conflict there, and you feel connected to that purpose somehow. You seek a horse that can inform you about the tactics and strategies of war as a steed. Ranger's Horse: 'What brought you to a place like this? This is not a place for any creature in his right mind, for I am on the edge of war, withthe smoke of many fires filling the air. 'The Enemy has turned his attentions to steeds of late; he uses traps to tear or break our legs. There wicked mechanisms must be destroyed, but be careful, for they will likely be guarded. Once a steed is snared, enemies try to ambush the rider before the horse can break free. 'You look like you can handle yourself better than most horses I have ever seen. Please help us destroy the horse-traps and their makers!' Objective 2 Defeat Ongbúrz horse-trappers (0/3) Terrible horse-traps are being used by the enemy and can be found in the passes toward Dol Dínen. Ongbúrz horse-trappers defeated x3 Objective 3 Talk to the Ranger's horse in Esteldín The Ranger's horse can be found back in Esteldín. Ranger's Horse: 'The Rangers here, and we steeds especially, thank you for destroying the traps that our enemies laid for us. You have a taste of war, and it looks as though it did not break your spirit. You are made of strong stuff, friend...and I hope to see you again before long.' Session complete.
