Walkthrough & Notes

Overview Two large, fixed barricades are located just south of the gate, defended by four Rohirrim soldiers and a Commander. Orc Sappers carrying Black Powder Kegs will spawn near the stables and charge the barricades to place the black powder kegs. Other Uruks will appear to charge the gate and occupy the soldiers there. Prevent the Black Powder from exploding and defend the Rohirrim to complete the quest. Strategy Mobs will spawn along the road just south of the stables. They generally stream in two lanes, one going toward each of the barricades. Sappers will appear in groups of 2 or three, which Uruks spawning fairly randomly. The Sappers are the main priority. Set up barricades in the lanes used by the Sappers to slow them down while DPSing them. Trip wires don't always work on the Sappers, so caltrops or bear traps in the lanes are also recommended. For solo/duo, it is usually better place the barricades nearer to the gate to keep an eye on any Sappers that get through. If any sappers are successful at placing the black powder, you can disarm them. For Fellowships, barricades can be placed closer to the spawn points to give DPS more time to kill. An Uruk Boss will appear and slowly advance on the gate about mid-way through the quest. DPS him when there are no sappers.

Background Orcs and Uruk-hai have snuck in behind the main defence and are trying to weaken the gate at Helm's Dike. Defend the barricades and the gate itself from the Orc Bombers. Scouts have also heard vague reports of unusually large Uruk-hai in the area. Objective Defeat all waves of bombers and their leaders Do not allow the gate to be weakened by Black Powder Kegs (0/6) Merit Rating This quest starts with Full Merit Rating.
