There are 3 ingress points for the drakes: Southern, Eastern and Northern. Each ingress has 2 dwarves defending it, and a campfire, which can be used to dispel the (otherwise non-dispellable) effect from the drakes, which reduces frost mitigation. Whenever a drake approaches a campfire, there is a chance it will go out. The campfires can be re-ignited, if desired. There is no effect on quest objectives, even if all 3 campfires go out. The dwarves can be healed, if necessary. A 7-minute timer begins at the beginning of Objective 3, and if the timer expires before 6 dwarves are defeated, the Defend Hrimbarg objective is satisfied, and no more drakes will spawn. However, the Defeat the drake invasion objective is not complete until all of the existing drakes in the instance are defeated, and if 6 dwarves are defeated before that, the quest will still fail. It may be tempting to abandon one or two of the ingress points, if all dwarves there are defeated, so as to focus efforts on the remaining ingress(es). But, remember that the quest will not advance until all drakes in the instance are defeated, and the defeat of the dwarves at an ingress point will not prevent more drakes from spawning there. Therefore, unattended ingress points are likely to accumulate a stack of drakes that must be dealt with, eventually. Generally speaking, it is best to keep the drakes to a reasonable level (maximum 3 or 4) at each ingress point, and then finish them off, one location at a time, once the timer expires. A named elite drake Kaldorm spawns, unannounced, at the 6:30mark (i.e. 30 seconds before the timer expires), on the boulder in the main courtyard. Thorgest is the "scout" in this mission and will teleport you back to speak to Hórin. After completing your objectives, there is a limited time (2 minutes) before you will be automatically ejected from the instance. You need to find and open the "Mission Reward" chest before this happens. Defeating more enemies does not reset the timer!

Your mission is to protect the outpost of Hrimbarg in the Misty Mountains.  Twist: Persistent Cold Background You have been tasked with protecting the outpost of Hrimbarg in the Misty Mountains. Objective 1 Talk to Thorgest Talk to Thorgest. Thorgest : 'Perhaps we should not have returned to Hrimbarg, my friend. Everything is the same as as when I left for Elderslade. We should retire for the night and return to Gundabad in the morning. Thorgest starts to get ready for the night then pauses abruptly. Thorgest : 'Wait, what is that noise outside? Oh no, an assault has begun! We must hurry!' Objective 2 Head to the[sic] Hrimbarg's courtyard! Head to the[sic] Hrimbarg's courtyard!. DRAKES ARE ATTACKING UNDER COVER OF DARKNESS! Objective 3 Defeat the drake invasion Defend Hrimbarg Do not allow the Dwarves of Hrimbarg to be defeated (0/6) Defend Hrimbarg.
