Bestowal dialogue
"What secrets lie in the depths of the Mordath? The little Dwarf-king and his people will soon know more than they dared imagine! Ah, but what is this? Another dwarf stands upon the threshold...."
Background
Deep in the depths of Barad-dûr, there lies a passage into the Mordath, the Black Pits of Mordor, through which Váskmun Greytooth intends to lead the Firehorns in his quest to reclaim the Dwarf-ring Manthríf.
Objective 1
Gimli can be found on the precipice within the abyss of Mordath.
You descended into the abyss of Mordath and have come to a ledge within depths of Barad-dûr. You should speak to Gimli and begin your search for King Váskmun Greytooth and the Firehorns.
- Gimli: 'It is quiet here, <name>...
- 'If Váskmun and the Firehorns came to this place, they did so by another way. Knowing Váskmun, he probably marched his army right up to the gates of Barad-dûr!
- 'Hah! There will be no tale of proud dwarves this day, my friend. Váskmun's pride does his folk no good at all!
- 'Now, we must find some sign of him or his folk before we are discovered.
- 'Let us go!'
Objective 2
Gimli can be found in the depths of Barad-dûr.
You are searching the depths of Barad-dûr for King Váskmun Greytooth and the Firehorns. You should follow Gimli and keep a keen eye on the shadowed tunnels of the Dark Tower.
- Gimli says, "Oh, I don't like the look of this at all...."
- Gimli says, "We must find the passage into the Mordath, <name>, and we must do it swiftly!"
- Gimli says, "This is Barad-dûr, after all! Váskmun and his folk may be the least of our concerns!"
- Gimli says, "<name>, I think we have come too late...."
- Gimli says, "Aye, the Firehorns have left a trail of dead in their wake...."
- Gimli says, "This was a battle between warriors and scholars...these evil Men stood no chance of overcoming Váskmun and his folk."
- Gimli says, "The Firehorns came by this way, I think."
- Gimli says, "The trail of dead descends deeper into the caverns. Let us see where it leads!"
- Gimli says, "By Durin's beard, what terrible works! What is this place?"
- The caverns suddenly grow wider, and you come to a room dwarfed by statues of Sauron and his servants...
Objective 3
- Talk to Gimli in the Chamber of the Watchers
Gimli is standing in the Chamber of the Watchers in the depths of Barad-dûr.
You and Gimli have found a grisly trail of slain followers of the Order of the Eye leading to the Chamber of the Watchers. A statue of Sauron looms ahead and its gaze is fixed upon you. You should speak to Gimli.
- Gimli: 'What is all this?
- 'Váskmun and the Firehorns must have come through here... for the trail of dead has led us to this chamber. Hmmm...
- 'Look, the passage descends even further! Oh no, <name>, don't you dare think I've become jealous! Whatever this pace might be, it is no Khazad-dûm!
- 'Ah, but something here leaves me uneasy, my friend. Does it seem to you that that statue is looking at us?
- 'Because it sure seems so to me!'
Objective 4
- Confront the glamor in the Chamber of the Watchers
The glamour can be found in the Chamber of the Watchers in Barad-dûr.
A glamour has risen from the statue of Sauron in the Chamber of the Watchers. You and Gimli must stand fast!
- Gimli says, "Sauron! No, it cannot be...."
- Remnant of the Dark Lord says, "None may enter the Mordath unbidden!"
- Remnant of the Dark Lord says, "Begone, dwarf!"
- Gimli says, "Dwarf? I am Gimli, son of Glóin -- warrior of Durin's Folk!"
- Gimli says, "And if I mean to enter the Mordath, I will!"
- Remnant of the Dark Lord says, "As it was planned, the Dwarf-king leads his people into certain doom!"
- Remnant of the Dark Lord says, "He shall not find the Ring he seeks, but he will find the Rings that were lost!"
- The glamour, one of the malevolent remnants of the Dark Lord, fades into the shadows...
- Gimli says, "It's threats to the very end, eh?"
- Gimli says, "The Rings that were lost...it's some sort of trap, I think!"
Objective 5
- Talk to Gimli in the Chamber of the Watchers
Gimli can be found in the Chamber of the Watchers in Barad-dûr.
You have repelled the attacks of a glamour, one of the remnants of the Dark Lord himself, which warned of an insidious trap laid for the Firehorns and King Váskmun Greytooth. You should now speak to Gimli.
- Gimli: 'Some kind of trap? I don't like the sound of this at all!
- 'We're going to need more than you or me if Váskmun and the Firehorns went down there, and if you ask me, we shouldn't wait around for those Eye-mad cultists to find us either!
- 'Let us return to the ruins of Dingarth, and tell Legolas and the Stout-axes of what we have learned!'
- Completed:
- Instance: Into the Abyss
- Gimli: 'I think we've seen enough, <name>!'
