Walkthrough & Notes

If your first side quest was "Cave In" then your second side quest will be this one. This side objective is similar to Quest:Stalactites Over the Bridge in that the location of defense is the same. However, the difference is that you will not have Gamling using the ballista and the enemies will attack a wider range of objects. Some enemies carry black powder kegs. The barricades and other items in the area will block your view of them so they can be difficult to spot, so watch closely for them. If they detonate they will set items around them on fire which will then need to be extinguished. If possible, order the Soldiers into Two-handed Stance to help you eliminate the goblins faster. Notes An Engineer can solo this quest easily. Take one of the barricades from the starting area and put it about 20 feet in front of the two quest barricades near the 'middle' flag and a few feet away from the dead bodies that signal where you will die if you keep going forward. Put the barricade there and then put a ballista far enough back to be able to hit the enemies as they spawn and are slowed by the barricade. If the engineer moves quickly (and upgrades their ballista) this is a simple quest to solo. Putting a tripwire trap where you have the ballista aimed will guarantee victory. There appears to be a bug with this objective. Several sappers will spawn at once. Using high damage AoE or a ballista to kill waves quickly may result in a 14/12 which bars it from being actually completed.

Background Goblin Sappers are attempting to destroy the barricades along the path to the central chamber. Help Gamling in the defence of the barricades, supplies, and glowing crystal. Objective Defeat the Goblin Sappers (0/12) Do not allow the barricades to be destroyed (0/2) Stop the Goblin Sappers from destroying the barricades, supply crates, and the large Crystal Clusters at the end of the island bridge. Merit Rating This quest starts with Full Merit Rating.
