Gróin (Northern for Grower) was the son of Farin, brother of Fundin, father of Óin and Glóin of Thorin's Company, and grandfather of Gimli of the Company of the Ring. Having survived the Sacking of Erebor in T.A. 2770, Gróin and his kin joined King Thráin's call of Haban'akkâ in the Sixth War of Dwarves and Orcs, in the hunt for Azog. Gróin survived this war, and lived for another 124 years, dying in T.A. 2923.
