Prestadír (sindarin: Man of Impact) is a Dúnadan ranger of the North who joined the Grey Company and travelled to Gondor during the War of the Ring. His companions are Idhrenfair and Himeinior.
First, Prestadír can be encountered at The Haunted Inn in the Dourstocks of Mirkwood, helping the Malledhrim and solving the mystery of the haunted village of Audaghaim.
- "It is good to be free of the Dourstocks…though I wonder how free we yet are of the mysteries of the shadow-world?"
As the Grey Company travels south, he joins them on their journey and makes his encampment at Echad Idhrenfair in Gloomglens of Enedwaith.
- "'The Algraig herdsmen we encountered in the Windfells are of a tribe called the Uch-lûth -- the Clan of the Ox -- who dwell in the Nan Laeglin."
Before the Grey Company departs Enedwaith for Dunland, Prestadír can be found at Lhanuch, counseling with Halbarad and Braigiar about the route they want to take.
Vol. 3, Book 4
- "'There are mysteries a-plenty in the Bonevales. If we can get to the bottom of them, we may have earned allies without which our passage south could be difficult."
Travelling into Dunland, Prestadír makes multiple appearances throughout the epic story; first in the Bonevales, and later at the Rohirrim Scout-camp.
- "'If you have the opportunity to rescue Lothrandir from the clutches of Saruman, I hope you will take it. It is not right for us to abandon him to the enemy. I know it does not look good for him, but there is always hope."
