What is the LOTRO Store

The LOTRO Store was introduced with Volume III, Book 2: The Ride of the Grey Company with the introduction of the Free to Play microtransaction model.

How does the Store work

The Store can be accessed at any time in the game, even in dungeons and during quests, by clicking on the LOTRO Store icon (), or by pressing Ctrl-S. It is important to remember that the Store is "character-sensitive." That is to say, it will only show you items which that particular character accessing it is qualified to purchase. The Store can also be accessed from the Character Selection screen, but it will only display account-wide items there.

All items are listed on this page with their normal costs, but prices can vary due to the weekly sales of the Store.

In-game Store sales always start on Thursdays and are advertised in the main LOTRO forums, usually in the Announcements section or in the LOTRO Store Sales and Promotions section.

LOTRO Shop and Coupon Codes vs LOTRO Store

Note that the web site Shop section and the in-game LOTRO Store serve different functions. The web site Shop uses monetary payments only, not LOTRO Points and generally has better deals on content than the in-game Store (i.e. expansion sales, etc.).

Coupon codes can only be redeemed through the in-game LOTRO Store via the Redeem Code section. These codes are acquired from outside the game. Typical codes that can be redeemed:

Weekly Coupon. This is a coupon code that when used will provide a small free account bound item from the Store, usually a potion, tome etc.. Occasionally the free item will be slightly more special, such as mithril coins or a free house decoration or cosmetic item. The code is made available for free each week on the official forum LOTRO Store Sales and Promotions section.
