The Defense of Tharbad

Born on the 1st of march 2892, Thengmar was a Rohirric man living in the village of Thornhope. Being a distant cousin to King Fengel he was promoted to Ealdor, the captain of cavalry of 120 riders of the Entwash Vale in the year 2910. He was often send on missions into Dunland and Gondor the following year. In the year 2912 the lands of Minhiriath and Enedwaith were devastated by floods. The city of Tharbad was emptied and deserted. Being an important location to keep under control to secure trade with the Dwarves of the Blue Mountains and the Men of Bree, Gondor and Rohan decided to send men to secure the crossing of the Greyflood river.

Thengmar got the task to travel to Tharbad and make sure no Orc or other enemy would be able to claim the city for their own. He and his Éored travelled through Dunland and Eastern Enedwaith and finally came to Tharbad. Realising that the city would be difficult to defend with so little man they made an outpost on the eastern side, which they called Mossward. The citizens of Tharbad noticed the small outpost and were allowed to stay in Mossward if they helped with the defense of Tharbad and the chores that needed to be done in the outpost itself, transforming a simple outpost in a small village.

In 2915 Thengmar fell in love with a woman who had fled Tharbad called Maedhiel. They married two years later in 2917. The village of Mossward had become a decently sized village where live was good and pleasant. However, the watch on Tharbad grew tired with no danger coming for several years. In 2925 however an Orc attack came from the east and the defenders were unprepaired. The defenders succeeded in keeping Mossward save but Thengmar and his small amount of troops in Tharbad itself were no match. Thengmar died on the 29th of March 2925 and Thengmar's second in command had taken over the duties of the city after him.

The Rangers Influence

Maedhiel however stayed in Mossward as the 29 year old widow, and she was pregnant. On the 25th of May she birthed twin brothers. The eldest she called Thenglaf after Thengmar and the second born was called Héalaf. With two sons to take care of it came as a giant burden that the Rohirrim would return to Rohan. With Tharbad being taken and unable to reclaim it they were ordered to return to secure Rohan itself. With such a dangerous foe close by, the citizens of Mossward had to take good care of themself.

The son of the old captain of the guard of Tharbad would take care of the city together with small amount of soldiers who wished to stay in the north while Maaedhiel would take care of the duties going by day to day. The Rohirrim left and the Orcs were not interested in the small village, looking more towards the west and north. Who was intested in the village of Mossward however were the rangers. Seeing potential allies of men and women of Numenorean decent they contacted the village more often providing help. In 2943 Thengmar would

2912	April	Enedwaith and Minhiriath are destroyed by the Great Floods. Tharbad is emptied and its people flee to neighbouring towns. Éalwyn flees north into the Trollshaws.
	May	Rohan and Gondor make an agreement to protect the great north/south road to secure the traderoute. Héalaf is send to Eriador to secure the traderoute around Tharbad.

2912	April	Enedwaith and Minhiriath are destroyed by the Great Floods. Tharbad is emptied and its people flee to neighbouring towns.
			Éalwyn: Moves north in search of a new home.
	May	Rohan and Gondor make an agreement to protect the traderoute with the north and send a troop of Rohirric man to set up a base at the city of Tharbad.
			Héalaf: Send to Tharbad to secure the traderoute and protect the city from Orc control.
	October		Héalaf: Arrives at Tharbad and setting up a camp on the east side called Mossward.
2913	May	Mossward grows in population seeing the return of refugees from Tharbad.
	August		Éalwyn: Joins the Rangers of the North in the protection of Eriador.
2916	January	The inhabitants of Mossward protect Tharbad against an orc invasion set on inhabiting the city.
2920	Febuary		Éalwyn: Arrives at Mossward to assess the situation. Here she meets Héalaf.
	March		Héalaf: Falls in love with Éalwyn while she returns north to bring a report on Tharbad. Éalwyn: Moves back to Esteldín to bring a report about the situation.
2922	July 23th	Morwen Steelsheen: Born in Marton to a Rohirric man and woman.
2925	March 29th		Thengmar: Dies as Thane of Thornhope by a Woodtroll. Éalwyn: Moves back to Tornhad.
	December	Tharbad is overrun by an Orc patrol. The Éored are pushed back to Mossward, which is able to protect itself, but the city is lost to the Orcs from here on out.
			Héalaf: Is seperated from his troops and flees north. Heavily wounded he succumps to his wounds in the Wadewater at Gwâl Cruban. Éalwyn: Tracks the Orc patrol with two fellow Rangers and find Tharbad overrun. They spot an Orc patrol pursueing Héalaf and Éalwyn follows it while the other two go to Mossward. In her hidden pursued she notices tracks going another way and follows it to Gwâl Cruban. Héalaf & Éalwyn: Éalwyn finds Héalaf at Gwâl Cruban and cares for him before bringing him to Tornhad.
2926	January		Héalaf & Éalwyn: They reach Tornhad and start dating eachother.
