Arathorn II, father of Aragorn and grandfather of Eldarion, was the Chieftain of the Dúnedain in the year 2930 of the Third Age. He ruled for only three years until 2933, when he was slain by an arrow that pierced his eye while hunting Orcs with Elladan and Elrohir.
