Description
Théodwyne Sternbrow was the 29th Chieftain of the Éothéod, the first and only woman to rule that people. Her father Haldend foolishly chose to attempt to ride a mearh, and suffered great injury which left him unable to speak more than a few words or lift a sword. Haldend remained their lord, but he had neither sons nor brothers to continue his line. Various thanes began plotting to seize control upon Haldend's certain death, but no clear contender emerged. It seemed the Éothéod might fragment into a band of bickering households. Théodwyne proved the salvation of her people. She was a formidable woman, a shield-maiden who towered over, and could easily best, many of the Éothéod's finest warriors. She slew several trolls, faced giants, and hunted Wargs in the wild. After Haldend's injury, Théodwyne stepped forward to care for him and speak for him as his mind deteriorated. When Haldend died, choking to death in his sleep, his daughter had effectively already become the ruler of the Éothéod and succeeded him.
Numerous attempts were made either to depose Théodwyne Sternbrow or, failing that, to wed her. She did take a husband in time, and soon after bore a son, Frúma. When he turned sixteen, she ruled alongside him, and they shared power for nearly twenty years, until her death.
