Update about Crafting Instance Access
It seems that since I rebuilt Hytbold a year ago, and then six months ago, changes are still happenning to Hytbold. A year ago and 6 months ago I didn't see the vendors for my class until after some rebuilding had occured. Now I saw them as soon as I finished the "wander around and find the areas" intro quest. This makes it handy to know how much effort to put into Hytbold on that particular alt. I was able to unlock all 3 Crafting Instances in this case and move on, although I think for Guardian, I wouldn't be so hasty. The armor available for Guard had a full 200% heal from the Warrior's Heart/Fortitude skill. Runekeeper had a 10% heal buff which was tempting but not enough so. Therefore I decided I just wanted all 3 crafting instances and moved on. I was able to complete it quickly in the following way (assuming at least Ally standing, preferably Kindred, with all areas):
- Complete the Intro quests. Pick up "Aiding the Eastemnet"
- Do one round of Aiding the Eastemnet. This is more than enough tokens.
- Complete Stables Rebuild (if you don't have Kindred standing with an area, you can't use swift travel)
- Complete Mead Hall Rebuild (it may not appear anymore, I think the intro quest completes it)
- Complete Library Rebuild (all 3 of these are turned in directly outside the Mead Hall)
- Go to Norcrofts neighborhood, talk to Ally representative, complete Library: Superior Study
- Go to The Wold neighborhood, talk to Ally representative, complete The Smithy Superior Forge
- Go to Entwash Vale neighborhood, Ally representative, complete The Lumberyard: Superior Workbench
Now all 3 instances are available and you may barter for titles, relics, Compendium IV, and etc. This does not complete deeds, and you may want the benefits of completing them. But at that point I decided it would be revisited when I was "deeding." NOTE: You can get to Kindred by running reputation enhancement (from the Skirmish camp) all the way through the questline, nearly continually. Acatlover2 (talk) 07:47, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
Guide to Hytbold on Forums
- The guide has moved, the new link is: https://forums-old.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?482751-Hytbold-A-Guide-to-Rebuilding-and-Armour Note that this is an old link and more interesting for historical reasons than for its usability now. Acatlover2 (talk) 07:58, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
A mind blowing guide on Hytbold has been written on the official forums: forums-old.lotro.com / showthread.php?482751-Hytbold-A-Guide-to-Rebuilding-and-Armour
I will ask for permission to copy parts here, and invite Fredelas to participate in lotro-wiki.
Thanks all for your great work here ! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Maelendil (Contribs • User Talk) at 19 October 2012.
- We either way must have a page about Hytbold, and we often ogle at many other pages when writing or improve a page. However, we always include a reference to important sources, and we should not copy straight off. If Fredelas wants to chime in here s/he is most welcome, this is an open wiki after all :-)

- Fredelas answered on the forum that "You can use any of the structured information in any of these posts in any way you see fit. (I don't own that information, since it's basically a structured presentation of the game data which is covered by the game's copyright.)" with the limitation that we do "not repost entire narrative portions of the guide elsewhere" to avoid possible errors propagation. There's also a very detailed spreadsheet on the 162 quests with details on who bestows the quest, what are the prerequisites, class, tokens, etc.

- Thanks, great, then anybody can begin an article on Hytbold and peek at that guide meanwhile. I am no way near those levels so...

- Yes, someone did. I have erased it, since Fredelas specifically asked that we not copy the entire narrative portions of his splendid thread. If I could have done a rollback I would have. If you can pull together a little something to get this page started for real, that would be great! -- Elinnea (talk) 00:19, 30 October 2012 (EDT)
Hytbold -- Location vs. Rebuilding
I believe we need two Hytbold pages. Hytbold the location, and Hytbold under reconstruction (the quest/activity things). My suggestion is merely based on the size of the blanked page, versus the size of the current location page (as of revision). I may be wrong, but if the activities require that much text, even after condensing and restructuring aiming at clarity and shortness, then it should go to its own page, don't you think?
The only pages for which we share "location" and "overview" are instances, but then the location info is so little compared to the rest, hence it causes no problem. If we shared the page for Hytbold it would be a very long page and nobody would be happy: if we follow the boilerplate format NPCs would end up in the basement with possible lore even lower, if we push down "quest overview stuff" then any visitor looking for that (which I think will be a primary target page) would whine when their scroll wheels wear out.
Hence I suggest we move this page to "Hytbold (Location)" and create another "Hytbold (Quest Overview)" or something better coming from somebody English native ;)

- It won't require that much text. If you look at the thread guide, the majority of it consists of the listings of each armour set and how to earn them, and I imagine most of that information would go on those set pages, not here at the Hytbold page. The text that was copied also included some peoples' replies, questions, and discussion from that thread, which obviously is not needed here. It was thoughtless copying, which is why I erased it.
- I would tell those scroll wheel whiners that that is exactly what the table of contents is there for. ;)
- If it does get so big as to require a split, my preference would be to leave this page at Hytbold and add a link somewhere near the top to "Hytbold (Guide)" or "Hytbold (Quest Overview)" or "Hytbold (Rebuilding)" or whatever it would end up being. Most other pages linking to Hytbold would almost certainly be meaning the location: quests, NPCs, etc. -- Elinnea (talk) 10:42, 30 October 2012 (EDT)
- Fair enough :-) -- Zimoon 15:46, 30 October 2012 (EDT)
Hytbold Revamp?
Does anyone know WHEN (i.e. what release) Hytbold was revamped? (One thread on the forums implied update 15, but I have not found anything in the release notes.)
Things I've noted taking my Beorning through. . .
- Daily quests now return 10 tokens
- Rebuilding functions all (apparently) only take 1 token

- I have updated the three Beorning Quartermasters and their armour set offerings.
- And modified the Hytbold Armour Sets Page to transclude their tables (eliminating multiple update locations.)]

- I'm also looking for the Hytbold Revamp information. I know there was an Update/Patch/Hotfix (U/P/H) because I remember reading it on release. Yet I cannot seem to find a copy. From this first message we've got a rough release date of Dec 7 2014, but not the actual content. The timing seems correct because there is almost a month between U/P/H releases. Turbine usually times things so there is 1-2 weeks between releases. Anyway, I've tried Bing and Google and cannot locate a copy of the Hytbold Revamp Notes. Unfortunately it seems that Turbine removes old U/P/H Notes at some point.
- This might be the period where the community got upset with Turbine's U/P/H numbering scheme (Bullroarer vs Live numbering not matching). If I'm correct, this might explain why the info is missing here. The U/P/H numbering got re-used; with an existing article having that number, no one noticed the content was different. -- Squirmier (talk) 03:43, 29 November 2016 (UTC)
