Effects

 Shield Swipe must be applied on the Guardian for this skill to be used.

Specializing in the Defender of the Free trait tree makes this skill have a 25% chance to apply a  Fortification stack to the Guardian, up to tier 5.

Skill Interactions

Shield-taunt is part of the Guardian's block chain. It becomes available following the use of  Shield-swipe. When traited, it allows  Shield-smash to be used within 6s.

When traited,  War-chant reduces the active cooldown of this skill by up to 5 seconds.

Trait Interactions

• The set bonus  Strengthen the Bulwark in the Defender of the Free trait tree makes this skill apply a stack of Fortification upon a critical hit.
• The set bonus  Shield the People in the Defender of the Free trait tree increases the chance for this skill to apply a Fortification stack by 25%. When at 5 stacks, the fellowship gains +2% Mitigations.
• The trait  Shield of Light in the Defender of the Free trait tree increases the target count of this skill by up to 3.
• The trait  Demoralizing Anthem in the Fighter of Shadow trait tree makes  War-chant reduce the active cooldown of this skill by up to 5s.
• The trait  Thrill of Battle in the Keen Blade trait tree makes this skill apply Thrill of Battle to the Guardian, up to 5 times. If this skill lands as a critical hit, all stacks are removed.
• The trait  Invigourating Response in the Keen Blade trait tree makes this skill restore up to 4% maximum Power upon a critical hit.
• The trait  Tenderize in the Fighter of Shadow trait tree makes this skill grant the Guardian a stack of Tenderize, up to 5 stacks.

Equipping 2 pieces of the Umbari Armour of the Protector armour set acquired from the Depths of Mâkhda Khorbo Raid makes this skill restore 1% of your Morale. Equipping 4 pieces of the Umbari Armour of the Protector armour set makes Fortification increase Max Morale by 6,000 per tier of the effect. Equipping 6 pieces of the Umbari Armour of the Protector armour set makes this skill reduce the active cooldown of  Guardian's Pledge by 2 seconds, and makes Guardian's Pledge improve the healing potency of this skill by 4% (up to 5%).

Tactical Information

Shield-taunt is a decent way to generate threat on a group of enemies before using Challenge. This skill is more commonly used after Shield-swipe than Bash.
