Walkthrough & Notes

Find the nearest Novice Metalsmith (or Expert Metalsmith). Open the starter pack, you will need free slots in your inventory. Equip your Inferior Smithing Hammer and find the closest forge. Use the Bronze Helm Recipe to craft the helm. It should be under the heading "Heavy Armour (Level 7)" on the crafting panel. The Bronze Helm recipe has several possible outputs (Elven and Dwarf-make helms), but you must create the simple Bronze Helm to complete the quest. Return to the NPC for approval. Notes: You are allowed to keep the crafted helm. This quest is given by any Master of Apprentices and is essentially the same, with just some differences in dialogue depending on location and the Novice Metalsmith who is involved. Quest Text

Bestowal dialogue 'I think that crafting metal is a very noble pursuit, and I have enlisted the aid of one of the finest novices in Michel Delving to assist each new apprentice. 'You will want to speak with Cotman Brown over near the forge. He has volunteered his time and energy to teach all the new apprentices. Mind him well.' Background Metalsmiths provide armour and tools to the people of Middle-earth. Becoming a metalsmith can be difficult, but the wares that they provide are a necessity throughout the world. Be careful! You will need to complete the correct recipes and deliver the correct items outlined in this quest. You will need to execute the bronze chain link and bronze helm recipes and deliver the bronze helm. Failing to do so will force you to obtain new raw materials or to restart the quest after a 24-hour delay. Objective 1 Speak with <NPC> near the forge in the crafting area. You should speak with <NPC> at the forge at the <location> to learn more about metalsmithy. Metalsmith vendors sell ingredients and recipes that are a vital part of any Metalsmith's training and continued work. 'Well, look here...another would-be metalsmith. I am pleased to meet you and looking forward to helping you get started.' 'If I go too fast or you need help at any point, you can ask me questions about metalsmithy, and I will do my best to provide you with clear direction. The first and most important step is having the proper ingredients.' 'I set aside a few for new metalsmiths like yourself. Take this crate and let us begin.' Objective 2 Open the crate given to you by <NPC> to collect the two bronze ingots <NPC> provided you with a crate full of ingredients that you can use to execute the bronze helm recipe. Open the crate to get the ingredients. Ingredients for Metalsmiths are normally purchased from vendors or traded from players with the prospector profession. You can also find the ingredients on the Auction Hall. You have been provided with ingredients. You now have all the ingredients to make a bronze helm. Objective 3 Using the ingredients you received, forge a bronze helm Create the bronze helm, as instructed by <NPC>. You have made a bronze helm. Objective 4 Bring the bronze helm to <NPC> The recipe is complete. Do not sell the bronze helm! It is time to show your handiwork to your mentor, <NPC>. <NPC>: 'Let me see what you were able to do....' He inspects the helmet with a discerning eye. 'Feels to be about the right weight and is shaped well. No flaws that I can see. 'I think that you have done very, very well, <name>. I approve and declare you a novice metalsmith.'
