Walkthrough & Notes

Start this quest by entering Skorgrím's Tomb. This instance is also available at the Ered Luin Reflecting Pool. There are two ways to get to Faerdamil, straight ahead, or up the left-hand stairs and follow the roundabout down behind him. Either way there will be several kinds of wights and shades, see Skorgrím's Tomb#Mobs. If straight ahead, watch out for three bands of trap spikes. They can be timed without difficulty. Note: Touching the side of the spikes will defeat the character instantly, just the same as the top of them. Thus, do not even come near them. Just past the spikes there are a lever to disable the spikes. Faerdamil will apply +3 Dread within quite a large area. Fight within the force field that becomes visible. Defeat him. After the battle, the glowing "force field" may still be visible, but is ineffective. The instance is completed, travel back to Dwalin and finish the wrapper quest. Comment: There is plenty of time inside this location. Even though it is repeatable from the Reflecting Pool, visiting the halls where the introduction instance for dwarves and elves took place may be rare; so why not take the time to "play the tourist" for a while.

Bestowal dialog Thrór's Hammer "Dwalin, lord of Thorin's Hall has tasked the Heroes of Eriador with recovering Thrór's hammer from the tomb of Skorgrím, where the Dourhands have enshrined it as a memorial of victory over Durin's Folk...." Background At Dwalin's direction, you have travelled to the abandoned tomb of Skorgrím Dourhand to search for mithril-shaping hammer of Thorin's grandfather, Thrór. Objective 1 Search for Thrór's Hammer Search Skorgrím's tomb for Thrór's Hammer. Objective 2 Defeat Faerdamil Defeat Faerdamil, a fell-spirit who has taken possession of Thrór's Hammer. Faerdamil says, "I greet thee. Thou hath come far, and I will not disappoint thine expectations." Faerdamil says, "Thrór's hammer shall be thine... if thou art able to defeat me in battle."
