Walkthrough & Notes

The Dun Crows in the Pristine Glade have the Attacks from Above effect which make them very hard to kill without killing yourself. The wording of the quest is misleading - it is not a choice between moving rocks and killing crebain. You must do both. Pick a group of rocks and move them. The bird will be ensnared in a tree root, making it vulnerable. Kill four in this way and report back to Guard Cai. Alternatively killing the Dun Crows outside the entrance to The Pristine Glade also count for this quest and are much easier to kill. Guard Cai bestows the effect  Protection of Life on you.

Quest Text

Bestowal dialogue 'The craban are everywhere. Saruman's spies! We need to rid the Glade of them; however, they fly too quickly and too high for us to kill them. 'The Tree will help defend itself. You must move the boulders blocking the Tree's roots. Move three rocks near one of the crebain, and the Tree should help you pull down one of the spies. 'Hurry. Kill as many spies as you can find and return to me when the deed is done.' Background You have arrived at the eastern guardpost in time to defend it from attack. Objective 1 Defeat the craban-spies (0/4) or Move the rocks to enlist the aid of the Old Tree Boulders can be found near the roots of the Tree. Guard Cai has asked you to move the boulders near the crebain so the Tree can help you defeat them. Defeated craban-spies (4/4) Objective 2 Talk to Guard Cai at the eastern guardpost Guard Cai is at the eastern guardpost of the Pristine Glade. The craban-spies are redoubling their efforts. You should speak with Guard Cai again and find out what can be done to stop them. Guard Cai: 'Well done, but the crebain will be back! Hurry quickly and make sure all of the guardposts are safe, then report back to Maugan!' 'Saruman is here.'
