Walkthrough

On the way onto the catapault platform, drop a trip trap for the enemies who also spawn from the rear (stairs) side, including Trolls and Sappers. They can cause merit loss if not controlled. Siege ladders will appear occasionally on the catapult tower and spawn enemies, including explosive keg carriers that can threaten your catapult. The hooks themselves do not have much health and can be brought down fairly quickly. Notes There seems to be a bug that prevents a ladder from being kicked down if the grappling hook is destroyed before it completes its grappling animation. Try not to destroy the hook until the ladder has been raised.

Quest Text

Background The enemy has constructed heavy siege ladders that are able to be attached securely to the wall. Once the ladders are attached, Goblin Bombers and Orc Berserkers will be able to quickly scale the wall and mount a massive assault. Destroying the hooks will be essential to detaching the menacing ladders. The enemy has also sent a group of Trolls to assault the tower from behind, which pose a danger to the catapult, the ammo caches, and the tower guards. Objective Disable Siege Ladders (0/10) Defeat Trolls (0/5) Do not allow powder kegs to detonate (0/5) Do not allow the catapult to be destroyed Saruman's army has constructed a large ladder with the ability to latch itself to the wall, making it difficult to detach. Destroy the hooks on the ladder and render them useless, and defeat the war trolls as they ascend to launch their assault. Merit Rating This quest starts with Full Rating Merit.
