You have 5 minutes and 15 seconds to complete the entire quest. You must speak to Adalgrim Goodbody to turn in the quest before the timer runs out. Each stop of this quest consists of a clue in the form of a clickable note tacked near three bottles you can also click on: Orange, Blue or White. Each clue is a riddle that tells you which bottle is safe to drink from. The correct answer will yield a buff (Protection from Spookiness) that protects you from the spooky effects of the Haunted Burrow for five minutes or until you reach the next riddle door. Of the two remaining choices, one will give you a 50% run-speed penalty (You have chosen... poorly) for the same period of time, and the final one will have no effect ("That tasted like water"). The simplest solution, if you don't want to read and solve the riddles, or follow this guide, is to simply drink the middle bottle each time. 3/4 of the time, that will be the correct one, and the one time that it is not correct, you will only get water. The hardest part of this quest is navigating the Haunted Burrow. It's best not to do this quest until you have a decent grasp of the layout of the different areas, and even so, you may have problems with this quest, because you have to take different doors than you normally would. While on this quest, you cannot exit an area through any door except the marked riddle door to the next area (unless the door is a trick door that just sends you back to the beginning of the same area). Since you cannot go through the riddle doors normally, this makes it a little more challenging to navigate the burrow. First Clue The first stop is just after entering the Haunted Burrow, underneath the painting of the warg, and is impossible to miss. The note is stuck to the wall under the painting, and the bottles are on the table in front of it, arranged (from left to right): Orange Bottle, White Bottle, Blue Bottle. Riddle Text:
After drinking from the correct bottle, you will need to make your way to the Riddle Door to the Cobwebbed Wing. From the bottles, turn left, then immediately right, then go through the secret bookcase door, then left and right again, and the door will be straight ahead of you. Second Clue The next stop will be immediately on your left after entering the Cobwebbed Wing. The note is stuck to the wall next to a warg trophy head, and the bottles are on a table in front of the note, arranged (from left to right): Orange Bottle, Blue Bottle, White Bottle. Riddle Text:
After drinking from the correct bottle, you will need to make your way to the Riddle Door to the Creeping Wing. From the bottles, turn right, then circle the hall to the left. In the first room on the left, there is a secret door in the back (a section of wall that moves). Beyond this door is the Riddle Door to the Creeping Wing. Third Clue The third stop will be immediately in front of you upon entering the Creeping Wing. The note is lying on the floor in front of the table that has the bottles arranged arranged (from left to right): Orange Bottle, Blue Bottle, White Bottle. Riddle Text:
After drinking from the correct bottle, you will need to make your way to the Riddle Door to the Basement. Past the table with the bottles, take the first right, then the first left, then continue forward into the second room, the door to the Basement will be on your left. Final Clue The last stop will be just to your right after entering the Basement, and is easy to miss. If you see the secret entrance to the room with the poorly hidden chest, turn to your right. The note is stuck to the wall, and the bottles are on a table in front of the note, arranged (from left to right): White Bottle, Blue Bottle, Orange Bottle. Riddle Text:
(There are no etchings on these bottles)
After drinking from the correct bottle, you will need to make your way out of the Haunted Burrow before time runs out. There are no more special Riddle Doors to locate, so just use your normal path to exit the burrow as quickly as possible. Once outside, make sure to speak to Adalgrim before the time runs out! |

Bestowal dialogue'Hallo friend! As many folk in these parts know, Old Mad Baggins was a great lover of riddles, so it seems he left a riddle or two for us in his Haunted Burrow. 'Only problem is, I can't make a thing of it! After the first riddle, I must have had a drink from the wrong bottle, and it made me worse off than before. 'I believe he meant for us to have a great treasure if we managed to solve it all, but who has the patience for such tomfoolery?
