Lore
Morloth (Sindarin for Dark Flower) was once a tree of the same line as the White Tree of Gondor. It grew hidden in a valley in the mountains behind Minas Ithil before the city was captured by the Nazgûl and renamed Minas Morgul. Morloth grew in peace for two thousand years before it was found by the Nazgûl, led there unwittingly. The Nazgûl defiled the tree and made of it Morloth, and in the valley of Thuringwath they built Bâr Nírnaeth. Morloth now is attended by Agath-kali, the Gaunt-woman and is used in Dhak Thrakrut, the Rite of Returning, in which lost spirits are returned to the world.
