History
Finrod was born in Eldamar, part of Valinor, but he he journeyed into Beleriand during the flight of the Noldor and became the first ruler of Nargothrond. Known for his wisdom, generosity, and friendly demeanor, he discovered the Edain and aided them in settling in Estolad. He also befriended the dwarves of Ered Luin, who aided him in establishing his kingdom. For this he earned the monicker "Felagund" - "Maker of Caves".
During the Battle of Sudden Flame, Finrod was saved by Barahir, and in return he swore an oath of friendship to Barahir and his descendants, giving him the Ring of Barahir. He fulfilled this oath 10 years later by aiding Barahir's son Beren in his quest for the Silmaril. Captured by Sauron on an isle in the Sirion river, he died in F.A. 465 while saving Beren from a werewolf, thus fulfilling his oath with his life.
After his death, Finrod was later restored to life in Valinor and reunited with his beloved Amarië, a lady of the Vanyar who had stayed behind in Aman.
