Durin V (Northern for King) was King of the Longbeards. He wielded the axe Mírdanant, forged for his ancestor, Durin III, by the Gwaith-i-Mírdain. When the dragon Thorog descended on the keep of Helegrod in the Misty Mountains, Durin V led a party of dwarves to slay the dragon. Thorog was slain, but so was Durin V, losing the axe Mírdanant in the process.
