All other, older tasks are in Category:Tasks, thence I removed the "Task" from questgroup. First I thought it was automagically added to that category from its name, I was wrong and admit my mistake.

Now the question is, should we use this category, or the older one? -- Zimoon 18:06, 16 October 2011 (EDT)

I gather that the general rule is that the template should generate the categories. I think the way tasks were originally done is wrong. The task quests should set the questgroup=Task, the same as every other quest sets the questgroup to be the quest log folder name. Then the template puts the page into the Category:Task Quests. When tasks were new, and we didn't really understand them, someone started down a different path. I know it is a lot of work to fix that, but it should be do-able with a bot.
Right now, I would say that our tasks pages are an unwieldy mess. The player needs to be able to quickly determine what trophies in his inventory are junk, and what should be saved for tasks. Junk can be sold for coin, or thrown away to make room. I am a VIP, but I have a F2P account. Bag space is at a premium for F2P, so any decision support tools w/respect to what to keep and what to throw is a big help. When I level up, I'd like to be able to quickly figure out how I can optimize my inventory. Right now, our pages don't help as much as I think they could.
I have found tasks to be a very valuable way to gain XP and Rep. It can be a bit complicated until you get the hang of it. Any thing we can do here to help is worth it. RingTailCat (talk) 18:40, 16 October 2011 (EDT)
I agree that tasks can be better organized, .. or rather, the related items versus their "useful level".
If nobody disagrees we can certainly use questgroup = Task for this. However, considering the discussion about how to improve the quest-template (at wiki-forums) questgroup may possibly be overruled if an editor is careless. Not a big problem though. The other way is to make the template react on the quest-name and if "Task: " follows Quest: then...

Still not fixed

I have just stumbled on these 2 categories and discussion. I think there should be only one of these categories. I would like to remove one of them, as well as refactoring the structure of the subcategories. I have seen that later after this discussion the Template:Infobox Quests was modified to put "Quest:Task:" into the Category:Tasks - however it did not solve the problem of 2 categories (as the task quests should also have the Task questgroup). Also in the recent updates, the tasks can use different names, for example the most recent ones are Quest:Elderslade Task:...
Oh... i guess there is the problem of questgroup vs questchain again...
This category however have a structure under it - at least for the more recent updates. If this is something that we want, we could also create the categories for the older regions, however at the current state i think it could be a more flat structure, as the middle category is not really used elsewhere and contains just couple pages

Not every Task quest starts with the word "Task:". However, every Task quest in the game contains the string "Task:", and no other quest in the game contains that string. So it should be easy to detect them with {{#pos}} or {{#rmatch}}.
With regard to the categories: I like the flatter structure. --Thurallor (talk) 18:49, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
