Beechbone is mentioned by Pippin in The Lord of the Rings, Book 3, Chapter 9, Flotsam and Jetsam as a tall, handsome ent who participated in the Breaking of Isengard, and was burned to death by the vent-fires of the White Hand. His death brought the Ents to the peak of their fury, and furthered the destruction of Saruman's war machine.
