The Lord of Gundabad

"I hear fighting just ahead! Let us press on!"

Background

Bori is eager to follow Durin to the threshold of Gundabad, where he hopes to observe the prince's defeat of Gorgar the Ruthless and acquisition of the title 'Lord of Gundabad'.

Objective 1

  • Talk to Bori on the path leading to the threshold of Gundabad

You have crossed the lake with Bori, and now he waits to speak with you before you climb to the threshold of Gundabad to meet up with Durin's fighting force.

Bori: 'We'll have to fight our way up the slope and to the threshold of Gundabad if we do not wish to miss Prince Durin's victory. Let's go!'

Objective 2

  • Fight alongside Bori as he climbs to the threshold of Gundabad
Bori says, "This way! There is little time to lose!"
Bori says, "The footing here is treacherous up ahead. Use caution!"
Bori says, "I see Angmarim cultists above us!"
Bori says, "What has seized the attention of those cultists? It might be the prince!"
Bori says, "We draw near the threshold, <name>."
Bori says, "Where are the defenders? They have gone to face the prince and his fighters!"
Bori says, "Prince Durin and his fighting force are just beyond this gate!"
Bori says, "Push open the gate, <name>! The prince needs our help!"

Objective 3

  • Push open the gate to Gorgar's arena

The gate to the threshold of Gundabad lies ahead of you, where Gorgar has devised an arena to challenge Prince Durin and his allies.

Bori needs your help to push open the gate that lies between you and Durin's fighting force.

GATE TO THE ARENA "This heavy gate blocks passage to the threshold of Gundabad from the direction of Dûn Thraikh."

Objective 4

  • Enter Gorgar's arena and join Durin and his allies

Prince Durin and his allies stand bravely in the arena of Goragar the Ruthless on the very threshold of Gundabad.

Gorgar the Ruthless says, "Orcs, retreat! Get inside the mountain!"
Durin says, "This isn't over, Gorgar!"
Gorgar the Ruthless says, "Oh, you're right about that, little Princeling!"

Objective 5

  • Remain on your guard!

Prince Durin and his allies stand bravely in the arena of Gorgar the Ruthless on the very threshold of Gundabad.

Longbeard Warrior says, "Up there!"
Hrímil Frost-heart shouts, "Scatter, vermin!"
Hrímil Frost-heart shouts, "I have returned to claim what is mine!"
Hrímil Frost-heart shots, "Bow down before the true Master of Gundabad!"
Durin says, "No... we were so close! Our prize slips from our grasp once more!"
Glóin says, "All is not lost, my prince."
Durin says, "You are right, Commander. All is not lost."
Durin says, "It will take time to regroup, tend to the wounded, and break through this cursed ice... But the day is won!"
Durin says, "Gundabad will be ours!"
