Bestowal Dialogue

The Great Goblin in Exile
"A horde of goblins has departed Goblin-town, and wrought chaos in its path. We have followed, and come to their new hiding place. Now we have them cornered. It is time we found out what is going on here!"

Background

A horde of goblins has departed Goblin-town, wreaking chaos in their path. We have followed, and come to their new hiding place. Now, we have them cornered. It is time we found out exactly what is going on here.

Objective 1

Langhár is ready to explain her plan to enter the goblin hideout.

You should talk to Langhár.

Langhár: 'There are a few goblins milling around out here, but this cannot be all of them. There must be more, and I would bet a crate of honeycakes they must be in that cave behind the village.
'Here is what we should do. You go closer, and when you are ready, give the signal. I will shout and roar and draw them from their hiding holes. You then sneak inside the cave, and find out what is really going on here.
'That sounds like a plan to me. Does it sound good to you?'

Objective 2

  • Get into position next to the village gate
  • Wave at Langhár when in position

Langhár has asked you to get closer to the cave entrance before she alerts the goblins.

You should get into position, and then wave at Langhár to give the signal.

This spot is close enough to signal Langhár
You wave to Langhár.
Langhár shouts, "Hear me, goblins! This village is under the protection of the Beornings! Did you really think you could get away with this?!"
Langhár shouts, "Come out and face me you filthy green-skins! I will slay ALL OF YOU!"

Objective 3

  • Enter the cave behind the village

Langhár has drawn the attention of the goblins in Waldfast.

You should sneak behind them and find the cave she mentioned.

Objective 4

  • Investigate the cave

You should investigate the cave to find evidence of why the goblins are here and how many they number.

You have found the Great Goblin and his host

Objective 5

  • Eavesdrop upon the Great Goblin

You have found the Great Goblin and a large number of goblins loyal to him.

You should listen to him speak to his followers to see what you can learn.

Marbrog, the Great Goblin shouts, "What? Ránulur is siding with the hobgoblins?!"
' Goblin Runner shouts, "Y-y-yes, Great Goblin... Some wargs stay to guard gate, but most go south to pack-home!"
Marbrog, the Great Goblin shouts, "Traitors, all of them!"
Goblin Runner shouts, "It not my fault! Please! Ow!"
Marbrog, the Great Goblin shouts, "Those dragon-loving brutes think they can march down here from Gundabad and depose me? Well I'll show them!"
Marbrog, the Great Goblin shouts, "You! Get back to Goblin-town, and get more of them back on my side. We are going back there to kill that so-called Warlord! I WILL take back my throne!"
Goblin Runner shouts, "Yes, Great Goblin! Please, no hurt me anymore!"
Marbrog, the Great Goblin shouts, "They think they're so much better than us because they're tall! Hmph. The rest of you, get back to work! This army won't build itself!"
You should return to Langhár with this information

Objective 6

  • Return to Langhár

You have learned much about the Great Goblin's situation.

You should return to Langhár and tell her this new information.

Langhár: 'Hah! A great battle, but these tiny things are no match for a Beorning! Now, tell me what you have learned!'
You tell Langhár of the large number of goblins inside, the takeover of Goblin-town by hobgoblins from Gundabad, and the exile of the Great Goblin.
'That has given me much to think about, <name>. Let us move away from the goblins before more come to investigate, and we will find somewhere to think this through.'

On completion:

Langhár: 'Come, let's move.'
