Bestowal Dialogue

'Skalla, the one in command here at Vegbár, asked for help in this goblin matter, and Grimbeorn sent me. I was just about to ask Skalla what the situation is. Would you care to join me[Beornings: , <sister/brother>]?'

Background

The Woodmen south of Vegbár have seen a recent increase in goblin raids. Langhár has asked for your help in dealing with this problem.

Objective 1

Langhár can be found in Vegbár, the Beorning outpost in the Wolf-denes.

You should talk to Langhár.

Langhár: 'After you, <name>.'

Objective 2

Skalla can be found in Vegbár, the Beorning outpost in the Wolf-denes.

You should talk to Skalla.

Beorning version:

Skalla: 'Ah, Langhár and <name>. Good of Grimbeorn to send you to assist us.
'Here is all I know: Woodmen living south of here have been reporting goblin activity in increasing numbers, and the Beornings say the same. Speak to your people nearby and see what you can piece together.'

Non Beorning version:

Skalla: 'Ah, Langhár. Grimbeorn sent you? And who is this outsider with you?'
You introduce yourself and explain that you would like to help with the goblin situation.
'Hmm. If Langhár can vouch for you, I see no issue. Woodmen living south of here have been reporting goblin activity in increasing numbers. Speak to the Beornings nearby and see what you can piece together.'

Objective 3

Skalla has asked you to speak to the others around Vegbár, the Beorning outpost in the Wolf-denes.

You should speak to the other Beornings around Vegbár.

Vegbár Beorning: 'Goblins? None here. The Old Ford has been rather quiet of late.'
Vegbár Beorning: 'I have not seen any goblins myself, but several Woodmen spoke of goblin attacks at Waldfast. I have not heard from some of the people living to the South, and I cannot leave my post; will you please report this to Skalla?'

Beorning version:

Hertha: 'Hello, child. How is old Grimbeorn doing these days? Tell him to come visit when he has time.

Non Beorning version:

Hertha: 'Greetings, <class>. With what can Hertha, Keeper of the Pass, help you? Here to pay the toll?'
She gently chuckles. You explain that you are helping Langhár investigate some reports of goblin activity.

All:

'Ah, you are here on goblin business? I did see some outsiders head towards the goblin gate not long ago, and then the next day, there was evidence of many goblins leaving. That is all I know.
'The High Pass itself has been quiet. I do hear some very esteemed guests are on their way, however! Very exciting.'

Objective 4

  • Talk to Skalla

Skalla can be found in Vegbár, the Beorning outpost in the Wolf-denes.

You should talk to Skalla.

Skalla: 'Outsiders entering Goblin-town, many goblins leaving, and now reports of homes south of Vegbár under attack. [Beornings: Troubling news.] [non Beornings: You say you are here to help, so now I am asking you to make good on your word.] We have not heard from the forester Ainhard in some time. [Beornings: Please, go] [non Beornings: Go] to his home and see if he still lives! We must discover why the goblins have left Goblin-town and now threaten the lands of the south.'

Objective 5

Ainhard's homestead lies somewhere south of Vegbár in the Wolf-denes.

You should travel to Ainhard's homestead.

You have found Ainhard's Homestead

Objective 6

  • Talk to Langhár

Langhár can be summoned to your side with Langhár's summoning horn.

You should talk to Langhár.

Langhár: 'What happened here? His home looks like it weathered a storm! Quickly, let us find Ainhard and make sure he is safe.'

Objective 7

Ainhard's homestead lies south of Vegbár in the Wolf-denes.

You should travel to Ainhard's homestead.

Ainhard: 'Who goes there? Get way from me, villain!'
Ainhard is clearly rattled from whatever happened here. You do your best to calm him down.
'You... are not goblins! I am so happy to see you! This has been the worst day of my life.'
