Hello and welcome --Lotroadmin 07:22, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Because I have been attempting to ween out those categories for some time. You'll notice that most of the tool specific categories are empty. I will be deleting them since there is now confusion. :) Rogue 23:06, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Category:Tool Items yes, but not Category:Tools unless specified. It is redundant to have them in so many places. I am cleaning house. Rogue 23:12, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Look, Category:Tool Items is the correct category for all tools, it was there before you created Category:Cooking Supplies. Category:Tool Items is for the Category:Items, while Category:Tools is for the Category:Crafting. Any other place to me seems very redundant. Hence, why I feel Category:Cooking Supplies *along with Category:Tool Name is unnecessary. Rogue 23:19, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
My problem is, there are too many categories for everything.. tools being one. For crafted items, I have categorized by profession crafted items then their actual headings in game. At least I am on the verge of changing all that as I update the recipes/indexes/pages etc. That is may area. :) However, there's Category:Tools (For the Metalsmith : Could be changed and I'll have to deal with that when I get there). Category:Tool Items *created by placing Tool under type) which should go under Category:Items but does not (will change that)... which then has an old category called Crafting Tools and a start of each tool name category... sighs.. it's a wonder people come in and create new categories for things we already have when they cant find it.. Rogue 23:40, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
If you believe it necessary to have Category:Cooking Supplies, Category:Jeweller's Tools ; etc.. then we or I can do that. What I have a problem with is you removing the Category:Tools that they were in, because that's the crafting -- metalsmith -- link. Remove that and you are removing my work. Hence, why I did the rollbacks. I had intended on deleting the tool name categories.. but as I said, if you feel they need to be there we can put them there. But the Category:Tool Items needs to be its own. Perhaps I can put the tool name categories in with Category:Tools (the crafting area). Rogue 23:45, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
I thought they were still under that category. I didn't mean to remove the metalsmithing cat... Uloria 23:46, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Overall, I've added the Categories for each tool in the Tools category under Metalsmith Crafted category. The only ones not in there are the inferior and normal ones because those aren't crafted, but they are in the Tool items category. I am slowly moving them all to their appropriate place, and creating pages for each tool like you started for Cooking Supplies. Sorry about the confusion and misunderstandings. Rogue 03:28, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Image FYI: For icons (32x32) we use .png and for anything else we use .jpg. Also, for armour I have set up outfits instead of individual pieces. Not sure how having individual pieces would be, but who knows. If you try to upload your boots, please make sure they are the jpg format. Again, I have outfits set up, some are there and more once I get all recipes together, or friends get them together.. or contributor's of the wiki have complete sets :D. See Tailor Apprentice Recipe Index or Metalsmith Apprentice Recipe Index. Let me know what your thoughts are. Rogue 23:05, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

OK I'll change them to jpg's. The boot recipe was a rare drop, so I'm not sure if anyone will get a whole outfit together. In any case the stats given in the article don't match the drop. Uloria 23:45, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Example? Are you referring to the in-game tooltip for the stats?? Rogue 16:45, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Yes, but for some of the items, I'd like to also post pics of what they look like on a character - what is the procedure for naming each of the pics. For some items, I'd like to have both pics in the "Item:xxx" article.
If its the tooltip that's what we are creating with the template:tooltip for each item page. if its different than the in-game tooltip add the information/change as needed. As far as naming goes, name it as the name is in game. Ex: [[Image:Rowan Hammer.jpg]]. If the name has a hyphen the second name is lower-case. Ex: Dwarf-make or Elven-crafted. Any images not an icon should be in .jpg format. Images of tooltips I dont see a point in since we have the template already unless I am misunderstanding you. Rogue 21:30, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
OK, I'll use the template instead. I think I was thinking in terms of the Lotro Lorebook, where it seems the only reliable information was from actual screenshots... Uloria 00:04, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Haha, yah, in Lorebook that's true enough. But here we'd love to have the actual tooltip be correct and as complete as possible ;) Cause we're better!! At least that's a personal goal of mine. And yes, feel free to edit the page and change the information inside the template so we are correct. Rogue 16:00, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Do you use Firefox? Rogue 16:46, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Yes
If you download the ChatZilla addon for Firefox, we are found on freenode. Then /join LOTRO-wiki. It's an easy way for us to communicate without having to write in our talk pages :D and more instant. Rogue 21:30, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Item tooltip copy-over

Looks like you are copying the messy version of the tooltip over to the pages... use this page for a cleaner version: https://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Template_talk:Tooltip! It doesnt have all that added notes about what everything is... Rogue 07:22, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

--- I am on the ChatZilla program right now if you just want to chat back and forth about things instead of doing it this way :) Rogue 17:34, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

I get an error message: [ERROR] Command “join” must be run in the context of an attached server. Uloria 17:42, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Researching your error suggests that you were not connected to the server, perhaps you got bumped when the server went down during that time. I suggest that you make another attempt. When the chatzilla box comes up there should be links to the different servers. We are on the freenode server so click on that first and wait for it to go through its connection process. Takes a bit but eventually it will get rolling. After that process is completed go again and type /join LOTRO-wiki and theoretically you should be able to connect to our channel. Let me know if you still have problems. Rogue 17:43, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Quest Updates

If you feel ambitious we've been wanting those old quest pages converted to the new: https://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Add_new_quest. hehe.. if not that's cool too. Eventually someone will get there... Rogue 21:58, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

ehh, probably not *that* ambitious. Uloria 22:00, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
ROFL darn... I was hoping! Rogue 22:04, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Missing Icons

For pages with missing icons we put {{IN}} at top of page so the rest of us know to go hunt them down when we get the chance. :) Rogue 23:13, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Recipe

Recipes should be displayed outside of the tooltip as I have been updating them not inside. Please. Rogue 16:02, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

They can still be added outside the template. I found this could easily be autoformatted, so I made the code. It'll go at the bottom, the same place as quest links. Example templates at Uloria/Sandbox
Out with the old and in with the new I suppose. It's rather entertaining to see you move in here and do all the changes that I thought I wanted when I first came here. All the admins kept saying no to me and reverting any of those changes I made. I suppose it's not a bad thing but now I know how they felt, only you seem to not take no for an answer and just do what you want anyway. And I seem to be too nice of a person to not revert all your changes. Keep in mind that my tolerance level only goes so far and that if I feel I am getting walked all over I will do something about it. I have been here longer than you have, and have earned my right as an admin on this site. So for now I would like to call a truce. Though, I will be putting on the crafting information once I get there so double information it is. Rogue 17:46, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
Quests come in two places, too, including in the template where they were in the first place. I'll probably also work on way to put "vendor-bought" and "drop" on the template, and will post a message on the discussion page when I start looking into it.
Problem with putting everything in the template, as was told to me, is pages are empty with just template. Why have double information when we put all the "extras" you want to add inside the template? It just doesn't make sense to me as that information is not inside the in-game template on the pages themselves. Pages need information as well as templates.
I have hardly not-taken-no-for-an-answer and there is some less-than-ideal coding in there because of it. However the template looks and works great, and problems that it had have been fixed, and yes I did it, because I could, because it was sitting there needing to be done, and because I had announced my intention to work on it and gathered feedback on it. Uloria 18:50, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
You may think what you want, but as an admin I have told you "that's not needed" or "no, not that way" and you have disregarded me. I feel disrespected as an admin who has been here longer than you as a user. I understand that the code may not be what you believe to be a good standard but it was done by the other admins. I have mentioned previously that they who have done this work have stopped editing for the most part, leaving me alone among new editors. They did not share how to do templates with me nor did they say hey, we're leaving now bye. I have had to look at the templates and figure out what it means in wiki code. My background is not programming. What little I have done in that time was out of frustration and desperation in the realization that they probably won't be back to do major edits anymore. So forgive me if I am not at the same knowledge level that you are, however, that does not give you the right to disregard my objections. You are still new here. Yes, you mentioned you wanted to make "some" changes, I just didn't realize that meant a complete overhaul. And yes, this is a wiki and everyone is entitled to make contributions and changes as they see fit, however, you are working with a community of people. I don't know how things ran at the other wiki's you've contributed to, but here I would appreciate it if you would consider your admins better. When I started objecting you should have respected my opinion and way of thinking. Improving the code is one thing but re-writing the structure and adding "extras" is completely different. Agreement should be universal among those who have built the founding stones and those who have taken up the mantle. If agreement is not universal, then no changes should be made. I also understand complete universal agreement is neigh impossible. Regardless, in my eyes you have come here and began with the attitude of admin when you are not. All that I have mentioned is how I feel and how I am interpreting your actions, which may or may not be accurate, but should be respected and taken into consideration, not discarded as some willy-nilly person who doesn't know what she is talking about. Rogue 19:14, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
If you two don't play nicely I'm going to have to put you both in time out. *glare* You both have made substantial contributions to this wiki you both are gamers and you both love this game. I realize that everyone will have a different style and agenda when it comes to editing this wiki and from time to time someone will unintentionally step on someone else's toes. I do expect both of you to communicate major changes when editing highly used tooltips (and popular pages) as they can cause unneeded load on the web server when changed or disrupt a common style. I do highly value Rogue views as she is one of the key content contributors and the key wiki admin to this wiki. I do think we should schedule some IRC time for the three of us to talk through this. --Lotroadmin 05:19, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Template:Recipe

Ok, I am having a bit of trouble with this template. I copied and pasted from the tooltip and did some minor editing / changes to reflect recipes / crafting information. It was working fine this morning when I did a minor change but coming back to it now doesn't seem to be working correctly. If you take a look at Template:Recipe you'll notice the tags show up (I would LOVE for those to not show up on the page. Also, checking the code, I know it has something to do with the bottom portion where those two tags are but for the life of me I have no clue. It would be appreciated if you could help me out! Also, Item:Burgundy Dye is the page I created where I noticed the code not working. Rogue 22:40, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Stumped

I wanted to add induction to the skill template but when I did this happened: Template:Infobox_Skill. Part of the code is visible and every skill template can see the induction regardless if we put something there or not, want this to not be so. Any suggestions? Rogue 00:03, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Recommend for Deletion

Make sure you check the links here before recommending for deletion. There may be a reason for that page. I'll double check before actually deleting potential links. Here's a good example: Special:WhatLinksHere/Category:Mobs -- Rogue 15:51, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

It is a template which is creating these links, which I corrected as the category is unpopulated. Uloria 16:13, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Understand, and you did get rid of quite a few links doing that, however there are still some left on that particular Category, including the main page. Rogue 16:42, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Well, that was more templates that were linking to an empty category. Now it's just the main page. Uloria 16:49, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
Excellent, where should the link on the main page go to now? I can edit that. I do want to say that I am thrilled someone is going through categories, it definitely needs done and thank you! Rogue 17:08, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

My intention for Category:Cook Guild is for Category:Cook Crafted Item, to reflect how it shows in the crafting subject headings. Along with all the crafting guild categories you have now changed. Plus, I did not have any intention of breaking down Category:Cook Recipes farther with subcategories, which you've added. I would have liked to been included in this decision as I am working heavily to change/improve this area of the wiki and see that others are moving things around just when I got them where I wanted them.. lol. Rogue 18:35, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Rune-keeper traits

Yep, that all sounds good to me. I'll focus on working on creating pages for the individual traits, if you want to keep going with the index pages and organization. --Gaerlin 18:00, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

OK Uloria 18:30, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

Check out my template and let me know what you think: Template:Infobox Trait --Gaerlin 17:20, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Item tooltip

I've been noticing a couple discrepancies with the tooltip and in-game.... example Archer's Lance Tooltip and Archer's Lance. Also, things are in different places depending on weapons, armour, or other objects.. maybe we should think about creating several tooltips for the different subjects? Rogue 03:56, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Disambiguation

I noticed you have a strategy for disambiguation of pages, I was wondering if you could take a look at "Friend of the Wild"
There is a page for the trait, the quest, and two for the title... one of which is ambiguous. I would like to see how you would resolve that one, before creating any new pages that might have a similar conflict. MysterX 23:52, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Need input on a topic

I would greatly appreciate your feedback on the topic presented about Recipe Indexes. I am in the process of adding both recipe and crafted item articles, but have been approached about changes to the indexes themselves. Nothing is concrete right now so all opinions and viewpoints are welcome. Lotro-Wiki_Contributors'_Corner#Recipe_Index_Updates. Thanks! Rogue 00:18, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
