Talk:Minstrel
Initial comment
- In Role description Healer is linked to Lore-masters trait and needs to be corrected... --Xander 06:28, 21 March 2007 (PDT)
- Yeah, we are starting to get some disambiguous pages common is another one as there is common damage, common resistance and common item quality. --Hinney 09:20, 21 March 2007 (PDT)
- we could probably define healer as a game term and to lore-masters trait just add "(trait)", as it was done already a few times since a trait granted a skill which had the very same name as a trait... --Xander 09:26, 21 March 2007 (PDT)
- I agree. The term "Healer" is inappropriate in Lotro to describe the healer classes and that article name should go to a page which explains why and provides suggestions for other articles. --Hellis 11:43, 21 March 2007 (PDT)
- I will add an external link section, as there are quite a few class specific guides out there me thinks... if wrong place, just put somehwere else :) --Kajolus 02:59, 7 May 2007 (PDT)
Minstrel changes
- “War-Speech” no longer toggles off when silenced.
- “Chant of the Oathbreaker” and “Call to the Elder King” have had their names and descriptions changed. No gameplay effects have changed as part of this modification.
- “Silver Tongue” now properly reduces the cooldowns of "Song of Restoration," "Lay of the Hammerhand," and "Fellowship's Heart."
- “Chord of Salvation” is now effected by the “Life-Singer” trait.
- “Song of Aid's” power cost should now be properly affected when instruments are used.
- “Song of the Hopeful Heart’s” power cost has been adjusted to be more in line with the power cost of a buff, rather then a toggle skill.
- “Anthem of the Wizards” is now impacted by the “Glorious Anthem” trait.
- The minstrel class instruments referred to "Chant of the Oathbreaker" instead of "Echoes of Battle". This has been fixed. --Fedaykin 07:26, 16 February 2008 (PST)
Mentoring
- Mentor of song: mentor 3 pupils in musical instruments
- Exemplar of song: Mentor 12 pupils in musical instruments
- Not sure on cooldown for this ability (1 week?)
- Horn, Clarinet, Cowbell are purchased skills from minstrel trainer
- Other instrumets come from item drops "Mentoring the Harp", etc.
- Minstrels can train another player, or buy a book and make a guide to the instrument that can be read by another player.
I am not 100% on this info, maybe a minstrel player can shed some more light on the way it works. MysterX 10:29, 12 March 2008 (PDT)
- Never done any before. Just bought Mentoring the Harp from the Rangers of Esteldin guy. Cooldown is 5 days (hopefully realtime, not game :p ) . Picked a random person to try it on :D - works like any buff, heal etc. I believe making a book to sell has an even longer cooldown. DancesInTrees 07:24, 14 March 2008 (PDT)
Medium Armor
It should be mentioned more prominently that Medium Armor use is not actually a skill for the Minstrel class, rather it's a trait. Listing it among skills can be confusing. --ElfRings 07:05, 4 October 2010 (EDT)
RoI changes
I've only read the changes for that class so far, being my main since beta, and a lot will change, no more medium armour available (I guess a lot of medium set items will disappear?), skills renamed, will we keep redirects for some time? Should we make a list of all changes? If yes, where? Only in this talk page? --Goingbald (talk) 22:55, 25 September 2011 (EDT)
- Ugh, pretty much the whole class is being reinvented. Lots of work to keep up with the changes. Re: listing the changes, perhaps link to the patch notes (our page here, once we get them up tomorrow morning) - Minstrel section? Deleted/seriously redesigned skills could probably get an {{Obsolete}}, others can get a note at the end to the effect of "Prior to Rise of Isengard, this skill was known as suchandsuch..." etc. It's your class; I'll defer to you with respect to what needs to be kept/trashed/recorded. - One skill in particular is quickly going to cause problems. The old skill Cry of the Valar has been renamed Invocation of Elbereth, and what used to be Anthem of the Valar is now called Cry of the Valar. If we want to keep the old pages and images, perhaps they should be renamed before being marked as obsolete, and I think a clarifying note would be useful in this case, at least for a while. Page updates
Hey, so the previous user who had their "Under Construction" on here has not edited the page since April 2014 (5 months ago), so I am assuming their revamp is canceled / abandoned / on indefinite hold.
So, I'm going through and quickly bringing the Minstrel page to be in-line with the formatting and presentation of the other Class pages, because for new visitors it's quite a disjointed mess right now (similar to the Champion and Lore-master pages I tried to tidy up).
If the previous user wants to resume their efforts later, or anyone else wants to improve further, please do — but for now I'd like to at least have something which is streamlined, helpful, and easy to understand, especially for someone who is new to the game and trying to find basic information on the Wiki.
