Walkthrough & Notes

When doing the course for the first time, especially the first several gates, you don't have to ride your war-steed at full speed to reach each next gate in time, and it helps to go a little slower so you can identify the next gate you need. Around the fifth or sixth blue gate, there is more of a gap and you have to look further into the distance to see the next blue flags.
Each gate that is your active objective has a pillar of light in the center to help guide you.
There isn't much interference from storms until the last several red gates, but even if you get blown off course, as long as you recover quickly you can still get back on course in time.
Tip: Careful with some of the sharper turns between gates, especially when going from blue to red.
You get a new minute timer each time you pass through a successive gate.

'In the wake of Núrzum's rampage, my folk need the aid of skilled defenders to prevent such a tragedy from occurring again. I have devised trials to prove the worthiness of those who would come to our aid.

'As you have no doubt learned, my people pride themselves on their horsemanship and mounted combat skills. If you truly wish to aid us further, prove your skills by racing your war-steed through a course of storm-plagued pools in the Whitshaws. I call it the Yst-arning, the Storm-race.

'Your skills will be judged worthy -- or unworthy -- by the amount of time that it takes you to finish the course. Speak with me when you are ready to leave for the Whitshaws.'

Objective 1

Talk to Gyric to travel to the Whitshaws and speak with Rilbert
Completing Wildermore's Recovery will cancel this quest.

Gyric is waiting for your decision in Forlaw.

You should speak with Gyric when you are ready to travel to the Whitshaws and talk to Rilbert to begin your trial.

Gyric: 'You should speak with Rilbert when you arrive in the Whitshaws.'

'So, Gyric sent you to be tested? Very well. You will have one minute to reach each gate. Be wary of the storms, for they can blow you aside.

'The Yst-arning will take you through several pairs of gates. The blue gates mark your way to the far side of the course, while the red gates indicate your path back. Do not miss any or you will risk failing your trial.

'Good luck to you . . . I will begin counting your time immediately.'
