Objective 1
King Náin I has ordered a final stand against the Balrog Durin's Bane.
You must attempt to defeat the ancient fiend, and if that fails, survive!
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "Good, you have arrived. King Náin is ready to begin. Come with me."
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "We have begun evacuations through the caverns to the north and out the East Gate."
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "The path is not well-travelled, but we must keep our people from harm when the fighting begins."
- Nafni says, "Commander, did we rescue the survivors from the lower halls?"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "Anyone who did not make it in time... is lost. Much of the kingdom has already fallen."
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "This will be our final stand, Nafni. Focus on the battle to come, or else every life lost will be for nothing."
- Nafni says, "Aye, Commander..."
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "The other routes into the Second Hall have all been closed."
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "On the King's order, the soldiers below will force the nameless creatures to the other end of the Second Hall."
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "There they will meet our axes."
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "The unearthed terror will surely follow."
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "Let it meet the might of Durin's Folk on OUR terms."
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "King Náin has sworn vengeance for his father, and will not falter!"
- Nafni says, "I am with you, Commander, but can such evil truly be slain? I have seen that terror with my own eyes!"
- Sverri says, "Nafni, give no voice to such things! We must try!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "Aye, we must. For Khazad-dûm."
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "Take position, soldiers. May the First Crafter smile upon us."
- Prince Thráin says, "Father, forgive my insolence, but this is folly! You heard the Elves."
- Prince Thráin says, "What hope have we of defeating one of Morgoth's own minions?"
- Prince Thráin says, "They say it can change form! That it bends flame and shadow to its will!"
- King Náin I says, "We have no choice, Thráin! It would shame our folk to let the kingdom fall without a fight!"
- King Náin I says, "The time has come. If I fall here, take the ring of our clan and guide our people to safety."
- King Náin I says, "Lead them with honour, my son."
- King Náin I says, "Soldiers of Durin's Folk! Hear me!"
- King Náin I says, "It has been one year since my father was slain by the fiend we now call 'Durin's Bane!'"
- King Náin I says, "On that day I swore to avenge him, though I die in the effort!"
- King Náin I says, "And we will avenge him, and retake our kingdom! For the honour of my father, and of every Durin before!"
- King Náin I says, "Sound the horn and let it begin! Baruk Khazâd!"
- Sverri says, "Khazâd ai-mênu!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "Khazâd ai-mênu!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "The horde approaches! Ready your axes!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "Beasts of the deep. They flee before the horde."
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "The nameless horde has come!"
- King Náin I says, "Fiends of fire and darkness! You will fall before us!"
- King Náin I says, "Enough of this! Where is Durin's Bane?"
- Nafni says, "It comes!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "Is that...? Can it be?"
- King Náin I says, "It matters not what form the terror takes! Charge!"
- Sverri says, "By Durin's Beard!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "Hold the line! Ware the cloud!"
- King Náin I says, "We are not here to fight this storm-reek!"
- King Náin I says, "Face me, vile one, and answer for my father!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "King Náin! No!"
- King Náin I says, "Have at thee, fiend!"
- Sverri says, "Nary a flinch!"
- Prince Thráin says, "Father! Run!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "No! We stand no chance against it! We are mere gnats to that monster!"
- Prince Thráin says, "Father... he is gone..."
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "Prince Thráin! Listen to me! You must lead our people now! Sound the retreat!"
- Prince Thráin says, "Ah! You are right, Commander. Nafni, Sverri, come with me. We must save our people!"
- Prince Thráin says, "Commander, take these heroes and hold the line for as long as you are able."
- Prince Thráin says, "If we cannot get everyone out, this will be the end of the Longbeards!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "I will see it done, Prince... no, King Thráin."
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "This fiend will know the might of Durin's Folk!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "This is it, dwarves! All we must do is survive! For Durin! For Náin!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "Retreat! He will slaughter us!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "Fall back!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "Blast! He keeps pushing us back!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "We are quickly running out of ground!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "We have no more time. Go, cross the bridge and live! I will hold him off!"
- Commander Formáth Firmhand says, "Come taste my axe, rohkiz!"
Completed: The Fall of Khazad-dûm -- Tier 4
- Prince Thráin says, "The evacuation is complete. Where is Commander Formáth?"
- Prince Thráin says, "Ah. He did not survive. Later we will sing of his valour. Remember too those who died with him, and..."
- Prince Thráin says, "Father... I will obey your final command."
- Prince Thráin says, "Durin's Folk, draw nigh and hear me."
- Prince Thráin says, "We dwarves are all who remain of proud Khazad-dûm."
- Prince Thráin says, "This is no easy decision, but our great kingdom must be abandoned. We cannot stand against that mosnter."
- Prince Thráin says, "Perhaps one day we will muster a force strong enough to oust Durin's Bane... but not today."
- Prince Thráin says, "Many trials await us in the years ahead, but I swear this to all of you: the Longbeards will find a new home and thrive once more."
- Prince Thráin says, "May the First Crafter grant me the strength and wisdom to be the leader you need and deserve!"
- Evacuating Longbeard says, "He is still a boy..."
- Evacuating Longbeard says, "How can one so young lead us in such a time?"
- Evacuating Longbeard says. "If only Náin had not thrown his life away..."
- Nafni says, "I am with you, my King."
- Sverri says, "Aye, as am I! Let us work together to find a new future for the Longbeards."
- Nafni says, "We must first find a new home. Dwarves thrive not as wanderers."
- Sverri says, "The thought of walking for miles under the open sky makes me anxious."
- Prince Thráin says, "Yes, you are right, Nafni. Hmm..."
- Sverri says, "Perhaps we could return to Gundabad?"
- Prince Thráin says, "Nay, if we could not hold Khazad-dûm, neither can we break the Orcs' grip on that place."
- Prince Thráin says, "Perhaps one of our old holdings in the Grey Mountains. And if not there, someplace new..."
