For more information about this skirmish read Defence of the Prancing Pony. This skirmish takes place in Bree in Bree-land. I try to wait near Second-watcher Heathstraw for the next wave of attackers. If you have an offensive soldier, instruct him or her to engage the enemy before you attack the Weak Southern Torch-bearer. Second-watcher Heathstraw has a better change of surviving if you engage the enemy before they get close enough to aggro him. If you are not able to do the encounters between waves of attackers, most of them can be put off until after Goilog is defeated, but before you talk to Second-watcher Heathstraw to end the skirmish.

"The inhabitants of Bree have spent the occupation holed up within The Prancing Pony. Angered at their uprising, the brigands have decided to burn them out...." Background The women and children of Bree have barricaded themselves within The Prancing Pony Inn. The brigands and ruffians who took the town over are seeking to punish those who stand against them. Objective 1 Talk to Second-watcher Heathstraw Second-watcher Heathstraw is eager to discuss the plan over how to protect The Prancing Pony with you in the moments before the assault. Second-watcher Heathstraw: 'Thank goodness you have come! The time is short, and our need is dire.' Objective 2 Heathstraw must survive the battle The Prancing Pony must survive the battle Second-watcher Heathstraw is eager to discuss the plan over how to protect The Prancing Pony with you in the moments before the assault. Objective 3 Listen to Heathstraw's plan Heathstraw must survive the battle The Prancing Pony must survive the battle Second-watcher Heathstraw is eager to discuss the plan over how to protect The Prancing Pony with you in the moments before the assault. Second-watcher Heathstraw says, "We have dared to stand against our captors, and now they are angry. The women and children are inside The Prancing Pony." Second-watcher Heathstraw says, "The brigands will come with torches and try to burn us out. The Pony can handle a few, but not more than five." Second-watcher Heathstraw says, "If you see a torch-bearer, he must be immediately dispatched, without delay. Now, prepare yourself, they come." Second-watcher Heathstraw says, "Let us finish this! The defences must be kept up. Second-watcher Heathstraw says, "Here they come again!" The horn sounds as the enemy returns! Second-watcher Heathstraw says, "Rest for a moment and gather your breath while we have the chance." The second assault has been defeated. You have a few short moments to rest Objective 6 Defeat the third assault Heathstraw must survive the battle The Prancing Pony must survive the battle The enemy forces are appearing weak and ragged. Their numbers are dwindling. Second-watcher Heathstraw says, "Here they come again!" The horn sounds as the enemy returns! The third assault has been defeated. Goilag now enters Objective 7 Defeat Goilag Heathstraw must survive the battle The Prancing Pony must survive the battle For Bree to be a free town once more, Goilag, the leader of the brigands, must be defeated. Goilag says, "Those who stand against Sharkey will burn for it!" Goilag says, "No! My poor wolf...." Goilag says, "In time, the dark one will destroy you all..."
