The quest auto-completes when he is defeated. If you click Butcher's Knife the Butcher appears, even if you don't grab the quest and just close the quest window again. Bestowal dialogue This terrible butcher's blade has taken a deadly toll upon the noble steeds of the Rohirrim and the tithed cattle of the Dunlendings alike. No doubt the villianous butcher that wields it is somewhere nearby. Dispatching the fiend might be considered some form of reprisal to honour the mounts of the Rohirrim. Background You discovered an enormous butcher's knife in the bowels of a goblin slaughter-house where the Rohirrim steeds were brought to serve as feed for the Wargs. Objective 1 Defeat the Butcher The goblin-butcher may be found somewhere in the caves of western Nan Curunír. You should dispatch the goblin-butcher for his foul crimes. The Butcher says, "Eh? Who's messin around in there?" The Butcher says, "I know I heard sumtin out here... Come out ya little lout!" The Butcher says, "Bah. Must be imaginin' things..." Defeated the Butcher
