Insect Clouds are swarms of normal-sized insects that behave as a single, collective creature rather than as individuals. Drawn to motion, these clouds will often detect and follow a traveler for a time, surrounding them in a buzzing mass. While pursued, the victim is affected by the Distracting Cloud debuff, making movement and awareness more difficult. If left alone, the swarm will eventually lose interest and disperse, though it may be provoked again later.

Though not inherently hostile, Insect Clouds will retaliate if attacked or disturbed by others. When angered, the swarm can be surprisingly resilient and capable of defending itself. This often proves dangerous, as Insect Clouds frequently inhabit areas alongside other, more aggressive creatures. In the chaos of combat, adventurers may accidentally strike the swarm, provoking it while already engaged with deadlier foes.

Like other Spiders and Insects, Insect Clouds are weak to Beleriand damage. They are commonly found near concentrations of similar creatures, particularly in places such as Rushock Bog in the Shire, as well as Barandalf and Men Erain in Evendim.
