Template:Deed
(Redirected from Help:Deed)
This is the template documentation for {{Deed}}. It is transcluded from Template:Deed/doc and may be directly edited there.
Using this Template
- Create new deed should be used to create a Deed article (page), then fill in the appropriate parameters.
- You will find sections along with standard formatting and information for the created article. If you do not need a section, you don't have to keep it into your article.
- Keep in mind, this is a general template for ALL Deeds. Therefore not all parameters apply to any given Deed.
- It should allow one to duplicate the in-game tooltip!
- Many parameters should simply use the same value as found in the in-game tooltip -- 10 s or 10 seconds
- Most parameters simply insert the text you provide directly into the template according to position and colour.

- Naming Pattern:
- Skill - if same name: gets name without suffix
- Deed - if same name: <name> (Deed)
- Effect - if same name: <name> (Effect)
- Trait - if same name: <name> (Trait)
- Naming Pattern:
- For help and more information on composing a Deed page, see Project Deeds.
Usage
- The Deed Template provides most of the standard formatting seen in the example below. It is generated conditionally, depending upon the parameters provided or omitted.
- Lore-text and Objective are REQUIRED parameters.
- All other parameters are OPTIONAL, and should only be filled in as needed; otherwise, left blank.
Lore-text
andObjective
should be typed verbatim from in-game text as found in the Deed Log.Faction, Title, Items, Skill, Trait,
andEmote
should be plain text (no wikilinks).Reputation, VXP-reward, DP-reward, COM-reward, SM-reward, Item-amounts, LP-reward,
andIXP-reward
should be numbers only, without any '+' as the template adds them as needed.Deed-subtype
andRegional-sub
should be left blank for deeds that don't meet those criteria (i.e., Epic and Social deeds or non-Regional deeds, respectively).XP-reward
andCTP-reward
are toggles (Blank or Y) which output one-line messages- When adding
Deed-chain
information, you will need to use the deed names used in the LOTRO Wiki, including (Advanced) and region names - they generate Wiki-links. - This template accepts the parameter | nocat = yes (Blank or Yes). If yes, then do NOT perform automatic categorization for this article.
Categorization
The template will automatically categorize based on the parameters you enter.
- Do NOT create region static index pages. Each Region has a category page of all deeds already (e.g. Category:The Shire Deeds, Category:Trollshaws Deeds). Static index pages are rarely updated and are usually duplicates of the original deeds. If you want a list of a list of deeds for your page just use the category tree dropdown <categorytree depth=1>Angmar Deeds</categorytree> (e.g. Angmar#Category Overview). Or add a summary table to the category page (e.g. Category:Moria Deeds).

Meaning Behind the Parameters
Note: Regarding "blank or 'Yes'" for many parameters -- blank will not enable the feature of that parameter, but "Yes" or any other text will enable it, as will a single character, digit, or anything other than a space. Hence, blank means "off" (which is default), while any text means "on".
- | nocat =
- Blank or Yes. If yes, then do NOT perform automatic categorization for this article.
Name:
Location coordinates
Cordinates for explorer deed locations should not be included in the Objective=
parameter, to avoid unwanted "spoilers". Instead, the coordinates should be included down below the Deed template, in a section called "Locations", using the LocationList tempate, e.g.
== Locations == {{LocationList | Durin's Way | 3.6S | 106.0W | [[Jazârgund]] | Durin's Way | 3.6S | 99.6W | [[Skoiruzg]] }}
