Half-orc

Half-orcs are creatures bred from Orcs and Men by the Wizard Saruman in his stronghold at Isengard. How this was done is unclear, whether through actual interbreeding of the two races or through some form of alchemy to imbue Orcs with Mannish traits. If the former, it is probable that the Dunlendings were used as breeding stock in this experiment. And if so, this was one of the greatest evils perpetuated by the White Wizard. Like Sauron's Uruk-hai, Half-orcs could withstand sunlight. They were described as "lynx-eyed" and evil in appearance. The more Man-like of Saruman's minions, of perhaps a slightly different breed, were known as Goblin-men.
