Annaethel is an elven woman, mother of Mellanion. She was part of the elven party that came to Cardolan to investigate the troubles with orc and the Dead, but has been lost to a maddened grief since her son went missing in an orc attack near Caranost.

Before returning to Sírlond, she is found at a couple other locations:

• The pond west of Wylvenclove in Ruddymore ^{[46.2S, 49.8W]}
• Some unnamed ruins within Sedgemead ^{[50.4S, 40.9W]}
