Bestowal dialogue

"Power is a heavy burden. I, Náin the Slakeless, son of Dáin Ironfoot, Lord of the Iron Hills, feel the crushing weight of the decisions I must make, and the lives that hang in the balance. There is much to consider. Now, who is this that comes before me?"

Background

The time has come for Tuhâl of Chayasír to stand before Lord Náin and speak for the Easterling refugees.

Objective 1

The time has come for Tuhâl of Chayasír to stand before Lord Náin and speak for the Easterling refugees.

Tuhâl: 'Wish me luck, friend.'

Objective 2

  • Listen to the conversation

Tuhâl is speaking to Lord Náin.

You should listen to the conversation.

Náin the Slakeless shouts, "<name>, who is this Easterling you have brought before me? Is this one of those "Jangovar"?"
Tuhâl shouts, "Lord Náin, I am Tuhâl of the Chayasír. I am but a refugee from the East!"
Náin the Slakeless shouts, "But you were taken prisoner for your part in the attack on Hammerstead, were you not?"
Tuhâl shouts, "I am not a Jangovar! I surrendered as soon as I saw an opportunity! You must believe me, the Jangovar are forcing us to work and fight under threat to our families!"
Náin the Slakeless shouts, ""Jangovar", "Chayasir", it matters not to me. You are on my lands and occupying a village belonging to the Kingdom of Dale, our most important ally! Why should I not slay you where you stand for your insolence?"
Tuhâl shouts, "Please, Lord Náin! Your skill as a warrior is legendary, but I must speak the truth, for the sake of my people!"
Tuhâl shouts, "I have heard you plan to collapse the stair at Skald's Drop, but I implore you to reconsider! We are simple refugees, fleeing a terrible devastation!"
Tuhâl shouts, "We have no home to return to, and you would be damning so many innocents to a terrible fate!"
Náin the Slakeless shouts, "You dare come into my keep and tell me what I should or should not do with my own lands?!"
Náin the Slakeless shouts, "You are foolish, but I hear the desperation in your words. The Longbeards know what it is like to have no home, to be wanderers."
Náin the Slakeless shouts, "I will consider what you have said. But, something must be done about Utterby. I will NOT have these "Jangovar" attacking my charges and stealing their craft!"
Tuhâl shouts, "We call that village Er Shamol. The Jangovar have imparted martial law over it."
Tuhâl shouts, "Many innocents are there, being forced to work under terrible conditions. If you attack, they will surely die!"
Náin the Slakeless shouts, "Despite my appearance and reputation, I am not a cold-hearted monster. I will give you and <name> an opportunity to remove these innocents from the situation."
Náin the Slakeless shouts, "The two of you will infiltrate Utterby. <name>, you will need to disguise yourself as one of these refugees. I will give you time to get the innocents out."
Náin the Slakeless shouts, "Then, I will come and deal with these interlopers myself. You had best hurry. You will not have long."
Tuhâl shouts, "Thank you, Lord Náin! We will not waste this chance!"

Objective 3

You have been tasked with infiltrating Utterby!

You should talk to Náin.

Náin: 'I apologize for putting this on your shoulders, <name>, but from what I have heard, you are more than capable of this task. Keep an eye on our "friend" here. His words are convincing, but I am not quick to trust any foreigner. Do what you can from within to clear the innocents out and undermine their operation. I will come to finish the task when the time is right.'
Completed:

Tuhâl: 'I am so relieved that Lord Náin heard my words. Now, we must come up with a plan.'
