Bestowal dialogue

You have found a letter in the drawer.

It is from Signoth, father of Sigun and Sigmar, and it may contain relevant information about the will, and the deed to the family house.

NOTE: Edoras quests must be completed before the Evacuation of Edoras takes place.

Background

Signoth has evidently left a number of letters to his sons hidden in the house which may settle the matter of the confusing will.

NOTE: Edoras quests must be completed before the Evacuation of Edoras takes place.

To my sons
This is part one of a four-part letter.
I have just found out that I have little time left before this sickness claims me. If you have discovered this letter, it means that one or both of you are taking responsibility for this estate at long last, instead of shunning it in hopes of avoiding your brother.
This shield-maiden guards the next clue, and the first colour is red.

Objective 3

  • Find the second clue mentioned in Signoth's letter

The abandoned house in Edoras can be found north of Meduseld.

To my sons
You must be wondering why I send you on this strange chase.
It is because of your quarrel. You did not visit your mother on her death-bed, because of an old rivalry. Sigun, Sigmar, her dying wish was for you to be reconciled; it is mine as well.
Do you not see that family and hearth matter so much more than old anger?
I am about to sit down for dinner. Perhaps I will continue there. The second colour is green.
Love,
Signoth

Objective 6

  • Find the third clue mentioned in Signoth's letter

To my sons
I wish to see you both before I pass away, but I fear it is not to be so. I only hope to mend the hatred by leading you along in such a way.
I have left a false deed with the notary, and the true deed is locked away. The true deed will say who inherits the house -- Sigun or Sigmar.
I grow tired now, my sons. Dreadfully tired. I will try to keep writing. The third colour is purple.

Objective 9

You should read the note you found.

To my sons
The end is coming, and I am nothing but a tired, lonely old man. Have I failed as a father? What curse lies upon us? Will you not come to see me? I would tell you that you are both my favourite, that you are both beloved.
If you are reading this, Sigun or Sigmar, then I am dead, and you did not come until it was too late. I only hope that you are caring for the house as you should always have done.
The deed, yes. The notary has signed it, and it is in the lockbox. The fourth colour is the one you have not chosen yet.

Objective 12

The lockbox containing the true deed to the house can be found at the foot of the bed.

You should open the lockbox.

You have found the true deed to the house!

Objective 13

  • Read the deed and bring the documents to Britred

Britred can be found on the wall above the fountain in northern Edoras.

You should bring the deed to Britred.

Deed to the Estate
I, Signoth, of sound mind, do bequeath this house and land to whoever first finds this parchment, for that person is the one who cares for this property the most.
Should both Sigun and Sigmar find this letter together, then the house and land remain bequeathed to both sons, not as a punishment, but as a father's last wish that his sons should get along. I hope it is the latter.
Britred: 'Well, well. What have we here?'
Britred look over the letters and documents you found.
'It looks to me like you are the new owner of Signoth's estate. Good! Now, go lock it up, and tell those two fools to get moving!'

Objective 14

  • Tell Sigun that he has lost his claim on the house
  • Tell Sigmar that he has lost his claim on the house

The two brothers, Sigun and Sigmar, can be found outside their home in northern Edoras.

You should tell the two brothers that they have lost their claim on their father's house.

Sigun: 'What? This is not to be borne. I will not let you get away with stealing our house, <name> -- it belongs to Sigmar and me!
'We won't lose our father's estate -- right, Sigmar?
'Just you wait. When we get back from Dunharrow, we'll see you out of here!'
Sigun is so angry with you that he has broken his long silence with his brother at last
Sigmar: 'Brother! This cannot be. Surely our father would not have wanted a stranger to our family to inherit his great estate.
'We will find a loophole, Sigun. I will not rest until we do!
'We will think on it as we travel to Dunharrow....'
Sigmar vows to work with his estranged brother to find a loophole

Objective 15

  • Completed

You have reconciled the brothers by taking away that which they fought over.

You have reconciled the brothers by taking away that which they fought over.
Perhaps they will learn the lesson their father meant them to learn -- that old offences bring nothing but pain and loss, and that family is more important than anything.
