Bestowal Dialogue

'Oh, he does like setting things aflame, doesn't he? As long as he is careful and vigilant, perhaps he will make good use of those goblin-bombs against our foes.

'It may be a good idea for you to find him and ensure he is using caution, <name>. He mentioned something about the Angmarim tower of Caivád Sâr, so you should begin your search near there.'

Background

The dwarf Eywind has a long history of setting goblins on fire. But will he prove able to distinguish friend from foe amid the chaos of the War of Three Peaks?

Objective 1

Eywind is somewhere near Caivád Sâr as the War of Three Peaks continues

Eywind: 'Yes, my friend, yes! This war will soon be ended, and Durin will have the victory! I have set a number of goblin-bombs on the path to the north-east, and in mere moments the Orcs and their Angmarim allies will be consumed by a conflagration of their own devising! Reinforcements will no longer be able to use that path to come to the defence of Caivád Sâr, and it is all thanks to my foresight and ingenuity! This conflagration may not be as impressive as the fire we set at Ghâshru, but it will serve. Ah, if only we had some Gandalf's draught left! That made for a truly spectacular inferno!
'What's that? How close will the fires be to our fighting dwarves? Hmm... good question, <name>. Perhaps you should tell them to back up a bit!'

Objective 2

  • Convince dwarves to evacuate the north-eastern road targeted by Eywind (0/6)

Some dwarves remain dangerously close to the path where Eywind has set his stolen goblin-bombs! Eywind will not evacuate them, so it falls to you.

Endangered Longbeard says, "This place is not safe?"
Endangered Longbeard says, "What foolishness!"
Endangered Longbeard says, "How can this be?
Endangered Longbeard says, "That was a near thing, friend!"
Endangered Longbeard says, "How much time do we have?"

Objective 3

  • Return to Eywind south of Caivád Sâr during the War of Three Peaks

Eywind is south of the Angmarim tower of Caivád Sâr, and you should return to him quickly. You do not know how long his goblin-bombs will remain undetonated.

Tremendous explosions thunder behind you, shaking the earth!

Objective 4

  • Talk to Eywind south of Caivád Sâr during the War of Three Peaks

Eywind is south of Caivád Sâr, admiring his handiwork.

Eywind: 'Ha ha! Tremendous! Did you see that? What a beautiful sight! It serves those goblins right for trying to use such weapons against us... how do you think they like the power of the devices they fashioned?
'But... there were not as many explosions as there should have been, friend. Do you think it is possible some goblin-sneaks managed to retrieve some of the bombs I set and think now to use them against us?
'There are three goblin-bombs for which I cannot account, <name>! Steal back the bombs they stole from us! Yes, the ones we stole from them first!'

Objective 5

  • Recover twice-stolen goblin-bombs from goblin sneaks (0/3)

Ewind's satisfaction has turned to displeasure: for some reason not all of the bombs exploded. Did goblin-sappers recover some of the bombs, and do they now plan to use them against the dwarves? You should try and recover these twice-stolen goblin-bombs, while there is still time. Goblin-sneaks can be found in Eywind's vicinity during the War of Three Peaks.

This goblin's boots are wet with lake-water, but he placed his bomb already!

Objective 6

  • Find and quench the hidden goblin-bomb somewhere near the lakeside trench

The goblin-sneak probably set his stolen bomb somewhere near the lakeside trench to the south-west, hoping to do as much damage to the dwarves as possible. You have to find and defuse it as quickly as you can!

You quench the fuse on the goblin-bomb as Eywind hurries to your side

Objective 7

  • Talk to Eywind in the lakeside trench during the War of Three Peaks

Eywind is in the lakeside trench during the War of Three Peaks.

Eywind: 'You quenched the last goblin-bomb? Good. It is a pity we were not able to turn it against its creators, but at least we made effective use of the others!
'Return to Durin inside Zarkul-sulûn and learn what is to be our next plan of attack. The fighting turns once again in our favour!'

Objective 8

Durin is inside Zarkul-sulûn while the War of Three Peaks continues.

Durin: 'We were pushed back on our heels, <name>, but we did not give up hope, and now we are rewarded: the tide of battle has once again turned in our favour!
'Victory is at hand!'
