Description
Ostir was Prince of Cardolan. He rode to battle to defend Weathertop from the forces of Angmar with many of the soldiers of Cardolan. In his absence, much of Cardolan was razed. He returned to Dol Ernil as quickly as he could following the Battle of Weathertop, but his home was a shell and his people were slain in the streets. Luilloth, his mother and princess-regent while he was away, was gone. On the throne of Dol Ernil sat the Grey Fear, wearing the shape of Amondir, his grandfather. At the Grey Fear's command, Ostir's dead people rose, wights, and drove Ostir and his company from the fortress and directly into an ambush of orcs, Hill-men, and Angmarim. Ostir was the last of his company to fall, and their bodies were lost among the barrows. Astoryn was his loyal hound.
