Mines of Moria - Bonus Pre-Order Soundtrack is a soundtrack by Chance Thomas, originally released on November 17, 2008 as a bonus with pre-orders of the Mines of Moria expansion. Despite the name, the album is largely the same as the earlier released Shadows of Angmar soundtrack, but with seven bonus tracks added onto the end, including one from the Mines of Moria expansion.

The track "Far Ahead the Road Has Gone" was the original main theme for Lotro, played on the character selection screen until 2012 when it was replaced by "Lotro Legacy" from the Riders of Rohan soundtrack.

Production and Release

For information on the production of the Shadows of Angmar portion of the soundtrack (the first 26 tracks) see the Shadows of Angmar soundtrack.

Originally included in the Lotro Audio Library, "Let Us Sing Together" is one of the most famous pieces in Lotro, played in the house of Tom Bombadil. Chance Thomas has said that this was one of the earliest pieces composed for the game, back when it was still named Middle Earth Online. Originally, Thomas intended this piece to be played as a sort of homecoming, used when Hobbit players crossed back into the Shire, coming home after their adventures. Lotro's audio director Geoff Scott decided it would be better in Tom Bombadil's house, and that's where it ended up in the final release.

Again originally included in the Lotro Audio Library, "Down Down to Goblin-Town" uses a much slowed-down version of the track of the same name from the 1977 animated "The Hobbit" movie soundtrack.

The track "Drums in the Deep" is the sole track on the album from the Mines of Moria expansion. Chance Thomas used the Utah Film Orchestra as well as singers from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in the recording of this track. The singing heard is in Dwarvish with the text written by Thomas.

This album was released on November 17, 2008 as part of the pre-order for the Mines of Moria expansion, along with a product key allowing for better pricing once the expansion was released as well as various exclusive in-game items.
