Lore

Etterfang is the sister of Smaug the Golden, the last of their line of fire-drakes. Etterfang is small (for a dragon) and known to burrow deep underground, and is venomous in addition to her flame-breath. She slept hidden in the Glimmerdeep for years after the end of the First Age, and in the latter half of the Third she was awoken by the dwarf Borin, brother of King Dáin I, who ruled the Longbeards from Thikil-gundu. Badly wounded, she fled deeper into the spider-tunnels under the mountains, where she has remained since.

In the First Age, she was known as Etterfang of the Caves, and took part in the Sunder-battle at Biriz-zahar.
