:Yeah that's a tough call, I assume if someone looks up the quests here they are looking for spoilers. I think either way is fine, it might be possible to do a spoiler section that by default collapses a section on the main page, but on the other spoilers might belong on the talk page. Quest News
- New template for incomplete Quest pages: {{Stub/Quest}}
- Please add the levels within the quests pages if you know them.
Stubs
We got 129 quest stubs now. It might be a good idea to start entering some descriptions. Its nice to see what quests are available but i think its more usefull if they contain some information.
Just change lotro to a window by pressing Alt + Enter. Then you can just copy past all the information.--Blakborn 01:04, 20 April 2007 (PDT)
- I'll have a go at some of them soon, but I've nearly finished the Shire quests & I'd like to finish that list up first. There is a use to the lists - you can see where other people are on a series compared to you & work out whether it's worth grouping with one of you catching up - those no way I can remember all the different series, even if other people do ;) DancesInTrees 01:16, 20 April 2007 (PDT)
- K, was getting worried people only entered questnames and never the information. Keep up the good work!--Blakborn 02:30, 20 April 2007 (PDT)
Question
Q - Where is the Category:Regional_Quests? I'm missing it on this page.
- A: Hm, ah yes... it's on the next page... click on the (next 200) and you'll see it... that's the reason why I like to have pages only on subcategories =) --Xander 05:38, 2 May 2007 (PDT)
- Ah there it is. I'd like to mension that there is no mension on the first page that there are more categories on the second page. I thought it would only be the questlist that would be contineud there. This might give people a hard time looking for it.--Blakborn 08:05, 2 May 2007 (PDT)

Do we want Quest Level Categories?
Any thoughts on that? One thing that i like about the old page was the fact that it listed the quests levels, but with the new approach to list the quests we lose that feature. If we added a UNIQ7b9f95a43652bcb8-nowiki-00000003-QIN] or something like that we could still list all the quests. Another option is to list the quests level at the end i.e. Quests:Tasty Elf Ears [50], and not use the categories and relay on someone doing a search for Quests [50] to get all the quests at that level. --Hinney 20:24, 4 April 2007 (PDT)
- There will be a lot of moved pages but i can think it will be more clear to have to level requirment in the name. --Blakborn 02:34, 5 April 2007 (PDT)
- Can't use [50], the wiki doesn't like it. I opted for (50) instead.DancesInTrees 04:54, 9 April 2007 (PDT)
- I've been pondering about this for some time now. Having the level in the name could cause issues if not everyone does it.. i.e. tons of moved pages and redirects. The other solution (above) is to create categories for the levels. .i.e. 'Level 1 Quest', 'Level 2 Quests', ..., or 'Level 50 Quest', and link all of those categories to a 'Quest by Level' category which links to the top Quests category.. Clear as mud We can also follow this same convention for the Game Items with a minimum level as well. Any thoughts?--Hinney 16:37, 9 April 2007 (PDT)
- Soiunds like a good idea. That way the level is mensioned and it wont interfere with the wikipages that much.--Blakborn 04:31, 10 April 2007 (PDT)
- If we list quest series (as I'd started to do in Category: The Shire Quests), the level could be added to the list rather than the quest title - eg [[1]] DancesInTrees 07:44, 11 April 2007 (PDT)

- At the moment the list is only useful if you are looking up a specific quest. Its completely useless in this format if you want to come on and look up what quests you could be doing for your current level. Or in a particular region. Which would really be nice now that the game has gone live. Other fansites are going to have searches that can be catagorized by level. If this isn't you'll have more leaving for those sites that using this resource. It really should be catagorized Region at least, and by level/series. Cliveklg 23:17, 25 April 2007 (PDT)
- I have been working on that - see for example Category:The Shire Quests - though I'm aware that this may not be the most obvious place to look to someone randomly browsing the site :) It may well be worth a page pointing out the appropriate locations for a specific level range, but once you have found the right area you can usually pick up most the quests just by running round a small area. hmm, I might just go knock up a basic one on that theme now & see how it works Quest levels DancesInTrees 00:01, 26 April 2007 (PDT)
- I was mid-process of doing something.. check out Category:Quests Quest by Level category

subcategories splitting across pages

- Personally I like the alphabetical list of the quests, I just don't like how the subcategories get split up between the pages. We could still do "Quests by Subcategories" paye where we use the < categorytree > feature to populate it and force it not to display articles. The challenging part about this are the different ways someone could search for quests which some are merely by preference and others by function. --Hinney 23:49, 6 May 2007 (PDT)

The Main quest page
I'm not convinced that using this, the categories, page, is the best way of presenting quests (Yes Xander, your comment helped crystalise my thought on the subject :) ). I've been trying for an over-view page that would make it obvious how to get to a certain type of quest - currently at User:DancesInTrees/Quests - any thoughts, is this appropriate, would it work as I hope, (anyone want to pretty it up a bit ;p)? Quest format we should use ?
Greetings,
I'll eventually complete all the Monster Play related quests and i found out that in each quest page there's the following mention :
This quest need redoing using Template:Infobox_Quest_Banner
Here's the actual format : http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Quest:A_dash_of_this_and_that
Here's the format of the mentioned infobox : http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Quest:A_Guardian%27s_Duty
Which format is the good one and should be used ? Is that comment old and the format already applied ?
Thank you.
--Drexlorn 13:55, 27 August 2007 (PDT)
- This got complicated. A few of the standard quests had been done using this "black" template (but without the "monster quest" bit). A user added a request for deletion on the "black" template so that they could be redone with the standard one. I modified that to the "redone" one. Unfortunately it appears the monster template uses the standard "black" template with a small addition, and has therefore picked up the request to use the standard template. (Hey if you're confused so am I ;) .) I'll try & sort it out over the next couple of days; I'll need a decent bit of free time to try & work out what's happening.
- As for which template - if you're going to have a good bash at the quests which layout do you think would be best? I personally err on the side of the standard layout, but then there's been discussion over this too... Template_talk:Infobox_Quest_Banner. DancesInTrees 05:41, 28 August 2007 (PDT)
- Well, first i think i would go for the easier format to work with i think. Second i would go with the best visual. But if we already have 75% of quests already in one format, perhaps it would be better to continue this way. So if a lot of things is in the standard one, i don't mind standardizing Monter Quests.--Drexlorn 07:36, 28 August 2007 (PDT)
- So finally, which template should i use ? The black or the standard one ? Thank you --Drexlorn 08:23, 5 September 2007 (PDT)
