It strikes me that this list is rather a mixed bag of sources, as different icons are used in different places. But then again, Legendary Items in general are very fluid things, changing name and appearance and basic attributes quite easily.
I don't know if they're of any help (and you've probably noticed all this already), but some observations:
- Mob-dropped LI's use one set of icons, while Crafted/Barter LI's use another. For instance, File:Minstrel's Sword of the Third Age (Level 75)-icon.png is used pretty universally for dropped 1H swords, while File:Hunter's Sword of the Third Age (Level 75)-icon.png is used by the Crafted version, as well as the Relic-master and Stangard barterer.
- Despite this, the dropped version and the barter versions all use the name "____'s Sword of the Third Age", even if it's with a different icon.
- File:Warden's Sword of the Third Age-icon.png and File:Minstrel's Sword of the Third Age (Level 75)-icon.png, in most cases, are the same icon from before and after the U6 update. A number of dropped swords I have on various characters had the first icon before the update, only to see it rotated into the second icon after.
In general though, perhaps it might be more efficient to just have a generic set of icons as a baseline, rather than the class/level/age combinations we have now? -- JnK (talk) 12:35, 24 March 2012 (EDT)
- I have a plan. The first step, however, is to inventory the icons. There are definite patterns that emerge. I require that the generalized rules are based on evidence, not conjecture. I also need to have the supporting information collected in such a way that it is easy to identify and confirm the type and scope of changes.
- Ultimately, I expect we can replace all the class and level specific icons with a very much smaller set of more generic ones. Right now, the icons are messed up by some premature attempts to use generic icons without fully understanding all the rules, such as the fact that the no min level, min level 51-65, and min level 66-75 items can have different icons, and that these can be different from the crafted item icons. Or that sometimes rune-stones with different affinity can have different icons.
