King Telemnar Sintavarda (Quenya for Star-fire Fade-exalted) was the 26th King of Gondor, ruling briefly from 1634 to 1636 of the Third Age. He unexpectedly ascended the throne after his father Minardil was killed in a surprise raid by the Corsairs of Umbar. In response, Telemnar began preparing a fleet to retaliate against the Havens of Umbar, but these efforts were interrupted by the outbreak of the Great Plague.
The plague devastated Gondor, as well as Rhovanion and Eriador, killing hundreds of thousands across Middle-earth. Telemnar, his wife, and all his children succumbed to the disease in TA 1636, along with a large portion of the Gondorian population. During this period, the White Tree withered and died, Osgiliath was partially abandoned and began to fall into ruin, and the watch on Mordor lapsed.
With Telemnar and all his heirs deceased, the Kingship passed to his nephew, Tarondor, the son of Telemnar's younger brother Minastan. Telemnar was later commemorated with a plaque in the Workers' Tier of Minas Tirith.
