The Unforgotten was one of the oldest kinships that existed on LOTRO [EN] Eldar server. Founded and first led by Dworan, it was intended as a guild for anyone who sought a social aspect of LOTRO through the events held, including fun runs and gatherings which, before the introduction of kinship homes, were held anywhere practical. During the summer of 2007, Dworan was victim of a car accident which injured and incapacitated him for months. In the meantime, The Unforgotten would be led by a coalition of officers which gradually weakened as more attractive offers from other kinships were sought. By November 2007, when Dworan returned to LOTRO, the kinship was in a dire state and only one officer by name of Ardalan had remained. This remaining officer was pronounced leader of The Unforgotten and Dworan announced that due to personal restraints his time on LOTRO would be limited. Henceforth, the kinship started making a slow turn with activity soon increasing and the forging of friendships with other kinships such as Nightmare on Elf Street, Braveheart and Knights of the New Order. Though, in December, Ardalan agreed to 'merge' The Unforgotten with another kinship called Heroes of Eriador. This merger resulted in a disaster when Ardalan was within a week expelled from Heroes of Eriador due to misbehaviour. Angered, he returned to The Unforgotten with most of his kins and rebuilt The Unforgotten yet again. In the meantime, as a result of his expulsion, his reputation would be an obstacle to his kinship's success due to his being there. Though many of his kins had mixed views on him; some pronouncing him as a dictator and some calling him otherwise.

In February 2008, Dworan returned to LOTRO and this made many kins who've long stayed at The Unforgotten extremely excited hoping that this would mean Ardalan having to transfer leadership to a moderate leader. Unfortunately, Dworan heard what happened at Heroes of Eriador and turned against Ardalan, and agreeing with the objective perspective of Ardalan's own reputation requested for leadership of The Unforgotten. Ardalan agreed, but was made leader again a week later when many officers convinced Dworan that due to Ardalan's level he would be a better representative of the kinship than Dworan. Disappointed by the fact his own officers turned against him, he eventually promoted Ardalan back to officer and handed over leadership to him. Dworan was later dismissed from the kinship due to indifference with the new administration of The Unforgotten.

With all opposition finally crushed, Ardalan would lead The Unforgotten for much of 2008 until November following, where in a meeting called by Ardalan, announced that due to a request made by certain officers as to Ardalan's certain dealings with certain other players, he was to leave The Unforgotten and transfer leadership to another officer within a week or else the officers would leave the kinship and form their own institution. Ardalan, knowing he didn't want to ruin his own kinship, decided to transfer leadership to Maxalas in the hopes that he would convince other officers to accept Ardalan back into the kinship and as leader once again.

When Mines of Moria was released, Ardalan was by then in another kinship and The Unforgotten continued without him. Under Maxalas' leadership, the kinship began forging new alliances, notably with Forged in Urugarth, which assisted in fellowship and raid runs for any players in either guild concerned. Maxalas adopted a laissez-faire attitude towards his kinship, insisting that all matters among officers and kins should be resolved by them. In January, it was known that Ardalan had wanted to rejoin The Unforgotten. The officers were infuriated by this request and rejected it, though Maxalas considered leniency. Following this, Maxalas invited Ardalan back into The Unforgotten and declared him an officer, unknowing what devastation would shortly follow. In an event Maxalas and his officers could never foresee, Ardalan in a fell swoop kicked every recruit and member from the rank 10 kinship. When Maxalas and his officers woke up the next day and logged on, they saw a shell of a once great kinship. Thousands of members were lost. It is unsure why Ardalan did this. Having lost his own kinship, friends and reputation on LOTRO, Ardalan left the game: taking the legacy of The Unforgotten and all the memories therein with him. Little was heard directly from him again. Maxalas would too leave LOTRO due to personal restraints. The Unforgotten ceased all activities from February 12th 2009.
