The Siege of Pelargir was the closing engagement of the Kin-strife of Gondor (Third Age 1447 - 1448).
After king Eldacar of Gondor had killed the Usurper Castamir, the sons of Castamir retreated to Pelargir where Eldacar laid siege upon them for a year.
As Eldacar had no ships, the siege was ineffective. The Sons of Castamir could obtain supplies from the sea, and eventually Pelargir completely in favour of Umbar where they replaced the local government with an independent kingdom in opposition of Gondor.
