Shurug-nîn is a legendary hero of Shagâna whose deeds are celebrated in the songs of the peoples of the south. Known in some tales as Nebunûru, the "Shining Light," she is remembered for leading a revolt against oppression and for her battles against the servants of Morgoth.

Shurug-nîn is said to have begun her life as a labourer in the mines of Lâkindar in the kingdom of Nêshak. When her brothers perished in the mines she led a revolt against the oppressors who controlled the thralls there. The uprising succeeded, and the freed captives escaped into the sunlight, spreading Shurug-nîn's name throughout the lands of Shagâna. The Elven warrior Maethriel later sought Shurug-nîn and entrusted her with the sword Orotheg. With this weapon the two heroes fought against the Orcs that threatened the region.

The greatest of Shurug-nîn's deeds is the slaying of the three dragons Anûshu, Nuzéru, and Rabûg beside the lake of Idagâl. The dragons were the offspring of Akhízi, who pursued Shurug-nîn northward in rage after their deaths. What became of Shurug-nîn after this pursuit is not known. Her fate has passed into legend, but her name endures in the songs of Shagâna as one of its greatest heroes.
